Plot[]
A mysterious half-demon princess named Towa Higurashi was captured by a shogunate adviser from Kantō region, who inquires her about some items from the future in his possession, including a book from the Reiwa Era and the seat from Kagome's bicycle, but Towa refuses to comply, certain that sharing info from the future will alter the past. The story then shifts back to six months after Kagome started living with Inuyasha and her other closest friends and their young children, two of which are identical twin sisters. Inuyasha and Miroku fight the Root Head, a demon who was sealed by Kikyo many decades ago, but the enemy escapes.
Completely unaware that Kikyo has been dead for decades but has had her immense spiritual powers reborn in her modern-day reincarnation, Kagome, the Root Head attacks Kagome and she joins Inuyasha, Miroku, and Sango to destroy it, unaware that a small part of the demon has survived. Back to Towa, she is rescued by a demon slayer named Setsuna and a demon bounty hunter named Moroha, who realize that the lord attendant is a demon as well and chase after it but before departing, Towa confiscates the book and the seat from the lord.
When they were four years old, Towa and Setsuna were playing together in a forest until they get caught in a fire and while trying to rescue her sister, Towa is dragged away by a portal which leaves her stranded in the present. She is found by her half-uncle-in-law and Kagome's younger bother Sota, who takes her in. Ten years later, Towa is being harassed by some bullies despite changing schools to avoid them, although she easily defeats them in a fight.
Back to the past, the Demon Slayers Hisui, Kohaku and Setsuna corner Moroha, mistakening her for a demon that is attacking the locals, until a Mistress Centipede appears and steals the Rainbow Pearls in Moroha and Setsuna's possession. In the present, the bullies return and hold Towa's family hostage, but they flee once hearing the police sirens, unaware that they were just passing by. Suddenly, a portal opens, dragging Setuna, Moroha and the Mistress Centipede to the present before Towa, who recognizes her sister. Sensing another Rainbow Pearl in Towa's possession, the Mistress Centipede attacks her as well.
In the modern era, Moroha tells Towa that her sword broke because it was ordinary, but Towa manages to use the Silver Rainbow Pearl's power to convert the remains into a laser blade and damage Mistress Three-Eyes. Setsuna finishes her off as she and Moroha recover their Rainbow Pearls. Towa tries to get reacquainted with her twin sister, but Setsuna does not remember her. Moroha deduces that the two are the daughters of Sesshōmaru, but neither of them know who that is.
In the Feudal era, Kaede tells Hisui and Kohaku that Setsuna is Sesshōmaru's daughter. They found Root Head's roots around the Tree of Ages and deduce that Setsuna and Moroha were sent to the future.
Meanwhile, а minor demon called Hitokon possesses Towa and has her attack Setsuna. After a brief fight, Hitokon jumps into the body of Towa's adoptive sister, Mei, but Setsuna exorcises it. Mei with her parents allows Setsuna and Moroha to stay with them. Sota and Moe also recognizes Moroha as Kagome's daughter. Moroha deduces that Setsuna was cursed by the Dream Butterfly to be unable to sleep or dream and had her memories of her past erased. Towa is struck with guilt, therefore believing she could have prevented this if she did not get separated from her ten years ago.
The three girls resolve to return to the past to capture the Dream Butterfly and restore Setsuna's ability to sleep. As they spend a few days in the modern world, Setsuna masters the violin and becomes fond of it, while Moroha discovers Root Head in the Tree of Ages and negotiates with him to reopen the portal in exchange for their Rainbow Pearls. Setsuna takes the violin with her while Moroha brings a massive bag of modern supplies. Towa bids farewell to her family and the three jump into the portal. They are interrupted by the Spirit of the Tree of Ages, who takes Kikyo's form. She asks them to slay Kirinmaru, an old rival of their grandfather, the Great Dog General, who plans to take over Japan, and Sesshōmaru, who has joined forces with Kirinmaru. Setsuna refuses, saying she doesn't care about the father she never met, while Towa doesn't want to kill her father on principle. The spirit transports them to Root Head, who attacks them for their Rainbow Pearls, but they defeat it and arrive in the past to be greeted by Kaede, Kohaku, and Hisui. Towa realizes that without Root Head, they have no means to return to the modern world. Meanwhile, the Spirit of the Tree of Ages watches over Rin, who is in suspended animation, and asks Sesshōmaru how he plans to revive her.
Towa, Setsuna and Moroha investigate some disappearances near a mountain pass when they meet a little girl who was abandoned by her mother. Upon taking the child back to her village, the three discover that the villagers are being controlled by a horde of bakeneko and slays most of them, with the rest fleeing. Looking for more clues about the disappearances, the girls arrive at a temple and meet the resident monk, Juan, who offers them shelter. Realizing that the bakeneko are hidden in the temple, they pretend to sleep and slay the demons after they reveal themselves. They learn from Juan that a priest sealed a powerful demon beneath the temple one hundred years ago and Towa stays inside the temple to protect him, while the others look for the demon's remains until they find some old bones that transform into a huge bakeneko. Meanwhile, Towa is trapped inside the temple with a barrier by the real bakeneko, who reveals himself to be possessing Juan while the monster fighing outside is a construct made from the bones of the humans it devoured. Moroha uses a sacred arrow to break the barrier and Setsuna decides to kill the monk to defeat the Bakeneko, but after hearing from Myoga that Inuyasha used to defeat demons without killing their hosts by absorbing their energy, she attempts and succeeds to do the same, saving Juan and defeating the Bakeneko.
After participating in a demon slaying with Kohaku's group, Towa and Setsuna stay the night on Kaede's house. In the next day, Setsuna departs for another mission leaving the sleeping Towa behind. Once Towa awakens, she decides to look for the Dream Butterfly, but has an encounter with the pirate Riku instead. Riku presents Towa with the real Kikujūmonji that he stole from the nearby lord before leaving, and Towa is arrested for being mistaken for the real culprit, and is brought before the Lord and Yotsume, leading to the events of the first episode. Setsuna and Moroha are informed of Towa's predicament and decide to rescue her, but they are stopped on their tracks by Fubuki, an ice demon serving under Ibuki, another of Kirinmaru's four perils. While being confronted by Yotsume and the Lord, Towa notices Fubuki's true body besides her and signals for Moroha to shoot at it, destroying the enemy. Afterwards, Moroha and Setsuna storm the castle to rescue Towa and the three leave to chase after Yotsume.
Riku pays a visit to Jyubei, who gives him a large sum of gold for his services and reveals that he intends to use Towa, Setsuna and Moroha in his plan to defeat the remaining perils so that he can obtain all the Rainbow Pearls. Meanwhile, the three girls follow Yotsume to Kyuki's hideout. Kyuki uses the Purple Rainbow Pearl to empower Yotsume, who uses his power to put Towa, Moroha and Takechiyo to sleep. In their dreams, it is revealed that Moroha was separated from Inuyasha and Kagome as a baby and entrusted to Hachiemon when the two were about to confront both Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru, Takechiyo was entrusted as a baby to Jyubei by Miroku for unknown reasons and that the Dream Butterfly carried Setsuna's memories to the Tree of Ages, where Rin is imprisoned. Setsuna, being unable to sleep, resists to Yotsume's powers and destroy him. Kyuki reclaims the pearl and confronts the three girls, stealing Towa and Moroha's energy due to them still being under influence of Yotsume's spell. As Setsuna fights Kyuki alone, Moroha reminds Towa about her ability to steal demonic energy and Towa uses it to fight and defeat Kyuki with the Sōryūha attack she inherited from her father. After the battle, Riku arrives to obtain the purple pearl and Jyubei introduces him to the girls as his and Takechiyo's employer, rewarding them for Kyuki's defeat with part of the gold he received from Riku.
Konton, one of the Four Perils, destroys a fortress atop a mountain to establish his lair. Jyubei announces that there is a huge bounty on him and Moroha accepts the mission, but Towa and Setsuna refuse, until Jyubei suggests that they should use the money as a reward for info about the Dream Butterfly. The three girls fight Konton, but his armor is too strong for their attacks and they are overpowered until Meifuku, a Meiōjū child appears to rescue them. Meifuku reveals that Konton killed his father and used part of his shell to make his armor.
Since then he has searched for Konton in order to retrieve it and give his father a proper funeral. Konton attacks the group and Towa realizes that Konton created his armor by draining the demonic energy from Meifuku's father's shell, returning it to normal by infusing it with her own energy. Without his armor, Konton is forced to flee. Meifuku returns his father's shell so that he can finally pass away, and the girls regret that they could not get the bounty on the enemy's head, while a humiliated Konton swears vengeance on them.
The youkai brothers Kinka and Ginka who share the same body continue their battle to the death so that the victor can claim it for himself. Towa, Setsuna and Moroha are sent to stop the damage they are causing to nearby villages and attack them. Noticing that both Towa and Setsuna carry Rainbow Pearls, Kinka and Ginka hold a truce so that they can steal them for themselves. The two possess Towa and Setsuna's bodies respectively, forcing them to fight each other until Setsuna uses some poison to expel them, but they end up running away with the pearls. The brothers report their feat to Joka, their clan's leader, who decides to absorb both while claiming the pearls for herself.
Towa and Setsuna arrive to retrieve their Pearls when Setsuna, watching the brothers in peril, has some glimpses of the day when she got separated from her own twin sister. After Joka separates Kinka from his brother to absorb him first, Ginka joins forces with Setsuna to defeat her, but Kinka does not survive the attack, with his brother dying soon after. Towa and Setsuna regain their Rainbow Pearls and Towa wonders if Setsuna remembered her past a little, while Moroha laments that because they had their bodies turned to ashes, they can't claim any reward for slaying them.
While Setsuna is playing her violin in a clearing and Moroha is overcooking pancakes in a portable cooking pot, Moroha suddenly notices a bird being swallowed up by a pond of murky green water but Towa and Setsuna do not believe her and leave. They talk to Hisui and Kohaku, who concur that the pond is indeed inhabited by something that devours any who come near it. Seeing that Moroha was indeed correct, the half-demon twins leave to investigate the pond. Towa and Setsuna arrive, and Setsuna runs to stop young Hikoumaru from arguing with his younger sister Chiyo who wants to stop him from approaching the pond to avenge their parents, as she does not to lose him, too. Towa scolds the boy for hurting his sister and states that he would regret letting go of her hand later.
Back at the Corpse-Dealer's home, a disgusted Moroha is cleaning while complaining that she is suited to much better jobs. Takechiyo scolds her that it is the least she can do to pay of the debt she owes Juybei. Hikomaru and Chiyo take Towa and Setsuna to their home where they are raised by their grandmother. She explains that pond had been murky ever since she was a child but was once as clear as a mirror. Hikoumaru and Chiyo reveal that the "something" that has inhabited the pond is called Venom Serpent. The two siblings then notice the violin case, remembering that their father had played the Biwa near the pond when he was devoured. Setsuna plays the violin to comfort them but only makes them cry for their departed father. After a delicious meal, Towa and Setsuna are invited to stay the night. Towa later awakes and joins Setsuna outside the hut. She apologizes for accidentally falling asleep. Setsuna brushes her apology off. Towa firmly assures Setsuna that she definitely will find the Dream Butterfly. Setsuna simply says that her inability to sleep has been happening since she can't remember and that it has not been a hardship for her. She then tells Towa to sleep, as they have a job slaying the Venom Serpent that has been inhabiting the pond for decades.
In his cave lair, Konton of the Four Perils has a sage-turned-apparition demon named Nikosen the task of annihilating the Half-Demon Princesses and attaining their Rainbow Pearls. At the village, Kohaku tells Towa and Setsuna about how an entire mountain has been withered with poison by Nikosen himself. Towa is excited but Setsuna is uninterested and will only slay the demon only if it is ordered by Kohaku, which she accepts. Moroha has come to help the local villagers in destroying the demon and claim another gold ingot from Jyubei. Towa and Setsuna come to join her but are attacked by Nikosen who demands the Rainbow Pearls they possess. Towa attempts to join her twin sister and cousin in battle, but her light blue energy blade does not form, which concerns her and puzzles Setsuna, as she can hear her heartbeat louder than she should. Moroha tries to use her Kurikaramaru but is unable to slice through Nikosen. In retaliation, Nikosen sends forth a stream of poison that affects and weakens Towa. Setsuna gives her a poison-shielding mask and tells Moroha to take care of Towa while she fights the demon.
As Moroha helps an unconscious Towa across a bridge, she notices the change in Towa's hair color and length but is blocked by Nikosen's torso. In midair on Kiara, Setsuna attacks an illusion of Nioksen's head which is undo by the assistance of Hisui and his fellow Demon-Slayers. Finding shelter in a cave, Moroha is surprised that she smells the sent of human on Towa. Knowing that she has to fight with Setsuna, she prepares to use her paternal grandmother's rogue and give Myoga a good meal of her grandfather's blood. The flea demon then appears and explains Towa's predicament is because it is the night of the new moon which is different for every half-demon, with the exception of the late Naraku who was capable of choosing a night of his own free will. Towa is concerned that Setsuna has experienced the exact same transformation and wants to go find her.
With aid from Myoga, Moroha infuses her spiritual powers into sutras to erect a blue sacred barrier to protect Towa. As Setsuna retains her full abilities, Moroha deduces that because her memories were taken from her by the Dream Butterfly, the laws of the new moon no longer apply to her. Taking advantage of this fact, Setsuna manages to hold off Nikosen who hopes to eat her and gain strength from her. Fortunately, daybreak comes and restores Towa's dog-demon abilities, ending in her using her charged sword to wipe him out completely. Having witnessed the whole battle from having created fire, Konton states how good a show it was and smiles in satisfaction, now aware that the Half-Demon Princesses do have a weakness: The New Moon.
Totetsu, the last of the Four Perils is eating monks to increase his power. Taking heed of this, Kohaku sends Hisui, Towa and Setsuna to protect Miroku, who is participating in a 1000-day training course to increase his powers, while Moroha is assigned by Jyūbei to protect another monk. Hisui is dissatisfied at first with meeting his father, as he does not see him eye to eye. While meeting Miroku, they also meet Hisui's older sister Gyokuto, who is paying a visit to her father.
Tōtetsu appears to attack Miroku and attempts to eat him. While protecting his father, Hisui is afflicted by some poison they used on Tōtetsu and the half-demon twins keep fighting the enemy while Miroku tends to him. Knowing that they are in as disadvantage, Setsuna asks Miroku to undo the spiritual seal he put on her to restrain her demonic blood, which unlocks her true dog-demon powers and she forces Tōtetsu to retreat, with Miroku restoring the seal afterwards and Hisui starts seeing his father in a better light.
After the battle, Hisui, Towa and Setsuna bid farewell to Miroku, who now must clean all the mess caused by the battle and Gyokuto's twin sister Kin'u informs her mother Sango that Miroku is safe and continuing his training, while Moroha is disappointed that once again she could not get any bounty.
Towa, Setsuna and Moroha are hired by Tamamo, a beautiful young woman who was rescued by Riku to slay Homura, an evil mountain god who kidnapped her from her grandparents and filled of jealousy, started to kill all man who looked to her face. During their confrontation, Homura recognizes Towa and Setsuna, revealing that he was the responsible for the fire that separated them 15 years ago, as he was ordered to dispose of the twins, and decides to kill them to cover for his failure. Soon after, Riku arrives with Tamamo by her request. Tamamo openly rejects Homura for his behavior and declares that she will never return to his side, and a disheartened Homura burns himself to death. Afterwards, Tamamo leaves to rejoin her grandparents' side, while Towa finds some relief in finally enacting her revenge.
Riku reveals that 18 years before, he had the Youkai jeweler Housenki II to create the Black Rainbow Pearl using Inuyasha's mother's tincture, which contain her tears of grief for her husband's death, and can create a path to his father's resting place. Housenki then gives the pearl and the tincture to Inuyasha and Kagome respectively, with Inuyasha incrusting the pearl inside his right eye for safekeeping. A few years later, Rin gives birth to Towa and Setsuna. Riku approaches a pregnant Kagome and warns her about the dangers of the dark comet, which was partially destroyed 500 years ago but a fragment of it is about to fall on Earth and asks for Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru to work together to destroy it, while Zero warns Sesshōmaru that Kirinmaru will surely kill his and Inuyasha's children should he knows about them. In response, Sesshōmaru takes the newborn Towa and Setsuna with him. Joka attacks him to kill the babies and Sesshomaru cuts her arms away, obtaining the Silver and Golden Rainbow Pearls that he gives to his daughters and Jaken declares that he will take care of them and their mother. Meeting with his brother and Kagome at his mother's palace, Sesshōmaru destroys the dark comet fragment with Inuyasha's help, while Zero awakens Kirinmaru and informs him about Towa, Setsuna and Inuyasha's existance. Fearing a prophecy left by the Shikon Jewel about Kirinmaru being killed by someone who is both Human and Youkai, Kirinmaru has Sesshōmaru accompany him in order to kill Inuyasha. Inuyasha and Kagome entrust the newborn Moroha and the tincture to Hachiemon and confront the duo. Claiming that Inuyasha's Meido Zangetsuha is a power that is needed in the future, Sesshōmaru steals the Black Pearl from Inuyasha and seals both him and Kagome inside it instead of killing them. A few years later, Zero learns where Towa and Setsuna are hidden and orders Homura to burn down the forest where they live, with Sesshōmaru unable to intervene. Hachiemon entrusts Moroha to the wolf clan and Riku ends his narration, affirming that he can not reveal further for now.
Three years before, Yawaragi, Moroha's mentor from the wolf clan, gives her the task of surviving the demon fight inside the Kodoku, promising to award her with the sword Kurikaramaru, but forbidding her from using her tincture. Moroha successfully pass the test, but to pay for her debts with Jyūbei, Yawaragi has Moroha working for him, while she leaves to look for the fire-rat demons to remove her cursed armor, which is slowly compressing her body until the day it will kill her. Back to the present, Yawaragi finds the village of the fire-rat demons and learn that they were slain by Konton, who orders her to kill Moroha in exchange for the key to remove her armor. During their fight, Moroha considers using the tincture to fight her, but reminisces that Yawaragi was cursed with the armor to protect her when she lost herself while fighting with it and decides not to.
Yawaragi uses her most powerful attack on Moroha, which she manages to deflect using Kurikaramaru's special technique Crimson Backlash Wave. When she is about to be stricken by the resulting blast, Yawaragi attempts to take Konton with her, but fails. Konton flees and Yawaragi passes away after congratulating her student for mastering the Kurikaramaru. With help from Towa and Setsuna, Moroha buries Yawaragi and decides to move on with her life, knowing that she is not alone anymore.
Riku approaches Konton, who is preparing a spell against the girls, and offers himself to lure them to his trap, as well as Tōtetsu, who will be used as part of their plan. He then informs Moroha about Tōtetsu's location and suggests that Kirinmaru must be involved with the Dream Butterfly, which also picks Towa and Setsuna's interest. The three stop Tōtetsu from eating another monk and chase after him to the field of Konton's trap, where they are separated. Trapped inside Konton's magic, Towa realizes his trick and together with Setsuna, the half-demon twins break free and pinpoint the enemy's location.
Towa and Setsuna are able to kill Konton, who refuses up until he was killed to reveal Kirinmaru's whereabouts, and with the spell dispelled, they help Moroha swiftly overpower Totetsu, who flees to Kirinmaru's ship to lure them to be killed by Kirinmaru. Kirinmaru finally appears before the three as he drives Totetsu off. With Kirinmaru unreceptive to Towa's attempts to solve matters peacefully and return Setsuna's dreams, the three half-demons fight Kirinmaru but are quickly outmatched as Moroha is knocked out after failing to overcome Kirinmaru with the full power of her demonic blood and Towa and Setsuna subsequently being easily defeated by Kirinmaru. Sesshomaru arrives and fights Kirinmaru to protect his daughters, the shockwaves of their clash knocking out Towa and Setsuna, as Kirinmaru decides to spare Towa and Setsuna but reminds Sesshomaru they still need to work together, Sesshomaru subsequently leaves with Jaken. This leaves Towa, Setsuna and Moroha confused, as Towa especially wonders what her father is doing.
The taijiya stand before Princess Aiya — who is the daughter of the Deputy Shogun — deliberating amongst themselves whether or not to oblige to her request for a battle with the bounty hunters. She was hesitant to even speak to them, because Kohaku (their Chief) is not present, but decides to offer them a position under her Lord father. Hisui accepts and the others question his cooperation, wondering whether Kohaku would have done the same and Hisui makes it clear that he wants to complete this task, at least in part, to relieve his uncle. Princess Aiya’s motives aren’t clear, as she seems to be seeking amusement from the spectacle of the impending battle, but Hisui and the others find and recruit Setsuna’s help in defeating Moroha. Setsuna agrees as long as Towa is none-the-wiser, and Moroha keeps the secret from Towa as well even though they are foes in this battle to our knowledge... Towa suspects something anyway, and finds Kirara who helps her track down her sister and cousin in the midst of their theatrics and intervenes to aid Moroha, since she is seemingly on her own against the slayers. Hisui inflicts a wound to Moroha with Hiraikotsu, and Towa becomes very upset, only to find out that Moroha is okay after all, and the whole battle was just for show. Kohaku unexpectedly makes an appearance at the battlefield, and overhears Princess Aiya say that her Lord father did not consent to the job offer she had presented the taijiya, and proceeds to tell the demon slayers that their purpose is not to work for a singular party, nor are they mercenaries who fulfill requests for the highest bidders. The taijiya always have and always will serve to aid those who are in need of their help, that is their purpose. Hisui apologizes for his lapse of judgement. Princess Aiya is reprimanded by the Deputy Shogun and says she acted foolishly out of anger toward Moroha for inadvertently soiling her kimono the night she and Setsuna came to free Towa from interrogation at their residence. The princess lies that she is remorseful and the scene cuts to Towa, Moroha, and Setsuna returning to the village. Moroha says she wishes they could have just told her about the goings-on, but Towa’s inability to pretend or lie well prevented them from being able to do so. The episode ends with a heartwarming hug from Towa to her sister and cousin, and she affectionately tells them she is “so glad Moroha is okay, and Setsuna is being her usual self” much to their discomfort and surprise.
Setsuna tells her twin what had happened to her in the decade they were separated by time, and how she was helped by the teenage half bat-demon Shiori, a leader of the village of half-demons which she has kept safe with her incredibly strong demonic barrier. When a poisonous moth-demon, by the name of Gaga Gozen, comes to devour the half-demon children, they are aided by Miroku as Shiori's demon-bat abilities have all been neutralized by the appearance of a solar eclipse and turning her fully mortal with black hair. This stirs the very powerful demon blood within Setsuna to emerge, further increasing Setsuna's dog-demon abilities to kill Gonzen in mere seconds. Miroku then knocks her out with poison from the demon-slayers, and applies a strong seal on her demon blood using the naginata she had taken from Gonzen as the focal point. With the battle over and her demonic powers back in full, Shiori re-erects the shield around the village, and has Setsuna live in the outside world with the promise that she should bring another half-demon, half-human child who feels troubled in any way; which was why Setsuna had brought Towa with her outside the cloaked entrance.
200 years ago, amidst the news of Tōga's demise, a saddened Zero decides to use the Shikon Jewel to seal her emotions, which creates the seven Rainbow Pearls. Back to the present, its the new moon and with Towa's power diminished, Setsuna orders her to take shelter at Kaede's home. In the occasion, Kaede reveals to Towa that she lived many years with Rinuntil her disappearance that occurred just after she gave birth to the twins. Seeing a Dream Butterflypassing nearby, Towa chases after it all the way to the Tree of Ages, where she meets Riku. Riku reveals that he intends to gather all Rainbow Pearls and return Zero's lost emotions when Tōtetsu appears to attack her. Riku risks his life to defend her until Setsuna and Moroha arrive to help them. Riku takes the opportunity to slay Tōtetsu and Towa gives the Rainbow Pearl in her possession to him to help with his mission, but she regrets soon after when Setsuna points that Riku's master could use them to evil.
Around 500 years ago, at the palace of Sesshōmaru's mother, she and Zero waited as Tōga and Kirinmaru destroyed the Grim Comet. In the present day, Zero steals from Miroku the seal he used to contain Setsuna's demon blood and dispels it, making her lose control of her demonic powers and begin a rampage while sprouting purple butterfly wings that emit demonic energy similar to the Dream Butterfly. Sesshōmaru and Tōtōsai react as they feel Setsuna's stronger demonic power, with Sesshōmaru stating that she still can't suppress her blood. Towa and Moroha attempt to stop her to no avail until Miroku's eldest twin daughter Kin'u learns the situation from him and both she and Hisui come to their help.
By their instructions, Towa risks her life to restrain Setsuna long enough for Kin'u to restore the seal and have Setsuna recover her senses. However, the seal did not contain Setsuna's demonic blood completely and she swears to take revenge on Zero for what she did. Zero came to the ruin of Izayoi's mansion where the Great Dog Demon fought Takemaru. Meanwhile at the modern era, Towa's teacher notices the Dark Comet approaching again before having an encounter with Sōta and his daughter Mei.
Towa and Setsuna enlist Moroha's help to fight Zero. They track her all the way to the palace where Tōga died and Riku makes a stand to protect his master. In the occasion, Riku reveals that he had achieved his objective of gathering all the Rainbow Pearls before Zero, who gets angry at him and retrieves all the pearls to restore her powers. Setsuna takes advantage of her loss of composure and deals Zero a fatal blow with her awakening blood blade. As Zero makes the passage to the afterlife, she reveals that her life is connected to Rin's, and finds some joy at knowing that Sesshōmaru's wife will die with her until Sesshōmaru uses a restored Tenseiga to revive her. Zero is furious at Sesshōmaru for his interference, when Lord Kirinmaru appears before them.
Kirinmaru begins by apologizing to Sesshōmaru for Zero stepping out of line and breaking Tenseiga, but Sesshōmaru is intent on killing her again, no longer worried about Rin's life being bound to hers. With Zero ready to accept the challenge, Kirinmaru is forced to intervene by scattering the Rainbow Pearls, leading Zero to renounce her relation with Kirinmaru and leaving to search for the pearls. Sesshōmaru and Riku follow suit, the latter wounding Kirinmaru beforehand. Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha are left to engage him in combat, with Setsuna dying in the ensuing conflict. Heartbroken and fuelled by her intense fury over her dearly beloved twin's death, Towa finally taps into her inherent demonic power and Moroha turns into Beniyasha, allowing the two of them to gain the upper hand against Kirinmaru, but it ultimately proves that it was not meant to be and they are both defeated. Lord Kirinmaru decides to spare them and leaves, saying that he hopes to challenge them again one day. Towa, stricken with grief, is left with nothing but to mourn over Setsuna, but Sesshōmaru returns and bestows the broken Tenseiga onto her, knowing that she is capable of harnessing her demonic energies into it and possesses a compassionate heart enough to be able to freely wield such a useful gift, most likely to revive her fallen twin sister.
With Tenseiga having to been broken by a spiteful Zero, Towa begins to infuse the heavenly healing sword with her limited amounts of demonic energy in order to revive Setsuna. Tōtōsai and Jaken arrive at the scene, and Tōtōsai states that he needs three whole days to mend Tenseiga. Unfortunately, by that time, Setsuna's vital essence will have been already sent to the Underworld, thus rendering the repaired Tenseiga powerless and that they have no other option but to rely on Towa's own demonic strength and will. While the still-hesitating Towa struggles to utilize Tenseiga's heavenly abilities to try and save her twin's spiritual essence, Tōtōsai retrieves the hilt of Setsuna's broken naginataand begins to restore it to create the Blood Blade she inherited from being one of Sesshōmaru's half-demon daughters- the Yukari no Takichri! This greater infusion of a blend of pure demonic/mystical energy attracts a mass of demons both living and deceased. Moroha utilizes her somewhat stronger and more effective spiritual powers (a feat that is directly due to Moroha no longer keeping the red Rainbow Pearl inside her shell rouge) to eradicate/purify a few dozen demons' all at once with one single arrow alone, with backup from Kirara, but the two are largely outnumbered by their fellows.
As the horde of demons' turn their attention to a concerned Sesshōmaru and his unconscious twin daughters, the recently resurrected Setsuna awakes upon her name being said by her father, who fiercely holds her greatly advanced and upgraded naginata aloft, the Yukari no Tachikiri, and easily slays the demons, which Moroha and Kirara had not been able to do away with, in one single stroke. Sesshōmaru then hands the broken Tenseiga to Tōtōsai for its three-day mending, and leaves with Jaken.
Before departing himself on his demon-bull companion Mō-Mō, Tōtōsai warns Setsuna to never let herself be murdered again as the Tenseiga can only return sentient beings, human or demon, to life only once. While Towa remains unconscious from having drained herself of all her demonic energy to resurrect her twin sister, Tōtōsai instructs Setsuna on how look for a mystical Kyuyokon root from the two thousand and fourteen year-old Magnolia demon-tree Bokusenō to receive a proper demonic weapon for Towa, in place of the Knockoff Kikujūmonji that she has been foolishly wielding since her return to the timeline of her birth.
While Setsuna is on a mission to retrieve a mystical Kyuyokon root, Moroha asks Jyūbei about how to find the ancient demon-tree Bokusenō by fining a demon that knows of a demon of such wisdom and mystical demonic abilities. Moroha meets up with Setsuna to find it but end up encountering the snake-demon spirit disguised as a human nun, who desires Setsuna's waist-length hair to appease her intense fury and bitterness at never being able to restore her true form. But when Towa gets wind of where her twin sister and paternal half-first cousin are, she carelessly charges into battle with aid from Hisui and his fellow demon-slayers, with mirrored sunglasses to protect herself from turning into a statue of rock.
It is then that Setsuna realizes that she can put an end to all of this suffering. She utilizes her Yukari no Takichiri's strongest and most useful ability to cut all physical and immaterial things/beings, both seen and unseen, to restore the destiny of the snake-demon and that of her human love, a fisherman. Finally at peace with herself and the humans on the surface, the Snake-Demon manages to regain her true form and returns to her home in the sea. The Half-Demon Princesses leave on Takechiyo, with Riku watching from a distance; glad that Towa is safe and that he awaits their next encounter, in which Towa will be wielding a genuine and fully demon-empowered weapon in the more battles yet to come.
Jaken recalls how fourteen years ago, while Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha dealt with the Grim Comet, Rin had been approached by Zero and was fatally cursed via the binding spell called "The Silver Scale Curse" coupled with the unbreakable red threads of destiny. Now that Kirinmaru's elder sister had Rin as leverage over Sesshōmaru, she demanded the know the whereabouts of their newborn twin daughters, without which Zero would ensure that her silver-scale curse would gradually spread throughout Rin's entire body to the point that she would be entirely encased in "ugly" silver scales and then forever perish.
As a last resort, Jaken had requested that Rin be placed under the protection and care of the mighty Sacred Tree of Ages, whose infinitely unparalleled powerful time-based abilities would assist in reducing a rapid spread of Zero's curse by forever keeping Rin within her current state of suspended animation. The Sacred Tree of Ages had then instructed Jaken to put a portion of the sacred Dream Butterfly on four-year-old Setsuna's neck, with which her own dreams and sleep would then be transferred to Rin to preserve her young life and temporarily stop the lethal curse in its tracks.
In the present, the Half-Demon Princesses resume their search for Bokusenō the two-thousand-year-old tree-demon to retrieve a very powerful, demonic mystical Kyūyōkon root for Towa's new and proper demonic-empowered sword. He informs them that a root of such ancient, mystical demonic power originates from none other than Mount Musubi, but neglects to mention the unusually strong shield of pure mystical, demonic energy that surrounds it. The Half-Demon Princesses reach the outside of said mystical demonic mountain and wonder what mysteries and secrets await them. A young red-haired girl is slumbering deeply on a pale green scale at the very center of the spiritual mountain.
Sesshōmaru and Jaken keep watch over Musubi. The Yashahimes are stopped by The Tree of Ages and Kirinmaru, who was ordered by Zero and Tōga to stop dragging Rion to battle. Moroha finds Rion, who lives at Musubi. She is asleep most of the time with The Dream Butterfly carrying messages between her and her father who is still remembering the injuries that he suffered from Tōga... and if Kirinmaru did not drag Rion to battle, Tōga would have slain him. He also remembers the time that what is left of his horn (which has not healed) created the Slave Puppet Riku while Kirinmaru's arm was thrown to the Bone-Eater's Well. Towa is taken to a facsimile of Tokyo while Setsuna encounters Rin for the first time. Moroha also encounters her parents for the first time as she quickly is hurled towards Towa. Both Kirinmaru and the Tree of Ages are delighted to hear of the Yashahime's morals and are appointed Guardians for Rion, who gives them a Kyūyōkon Root. Osamu Kirin continues to vouch for Towa's absences in exchange for unlimited access to the Shinto Shrine, his place of birth.
Rion continues her friendship with the Half-Demon Princesses. Riku is nearby slaying thousands of small fly-demons. She says she lost her life 600 years ago. Kirinmaru has been overprotective of her ever since. He, as most daiyōkai, sent his child away to safety. Rion considers it a prison sentence and never approved of Kirinmaru's quest for world domination. He used a Dream Butterfly to keep her asleep and to communicate with her when they are asleep. There is also a red threads of fate that holds the curse together. Setsuna is recruited to break the thread and destroys Rion's Dream Butterfly. Kirinmaru drags Rion back to safety, but she reclaims her body and frees herself from him. With the barrier subdued, she tells Towa to use Kyūyōkon Root which transforms to the Star-Slicer Flute. It transforms again to be Zanseikenwhich she uses to slay the monsters and needs to again in order to match Kirinmaru and his Bakuseiken. Sesshōmaru, who has been following them, asks about Setsuna's skill level in her newly upgraded and supremely powerful naginata.
After expressing her wish to save her mother, Sesshōmaru destroys Setsuna's Dream Butterfly. He asks Moroha if she had encountered her father Inuyasha and leaves, not answering her question as to how he knows about her father's incarceration. Riku has also been following them and meets Rion. He tells them that Kirinmaru can access Riku's senses and warns them to get away. Thus, Towa approaches Riku and shouts through him to warn Kirinmaru that they are not afraid of him. Riku drives Rion to his place and promises they will meet again. Setsuna instantly collapses and begins to fall asleep for the first time in a decade. She finds it very annoying as she does not have much time to save Rin's life from Zero's fatal curse.
Finally able to sleep after a whole decade, Setsuna is abducted by ninjas who serve under Princess Aiya and her father the Lord. Aiya coerces Setsuna to take her lessons for her as the princess leaves via palanquin to enjoy her newfound freedom outside the castle. Setsuna is surprised to see that the instructor is none other than Hisui, who has been forced into taking the place of his twin elder sister Kin'u.
On her way further outside the castle, Ayia is attacked by an octopus demon who plans to devour her. Fortunately, she is saved by Hisui, whom she immediately falls for, and assistance from Kin'u's sacred sutras and her twin sister Gyokuto's sent beads. The Lord discovers his daughter's duplicity and severely lectures her as Setsuna returns to Kaede's village, where a relieved Towa hugs her. Setsuna does not inform her twin about her predicament and leaves to train in further developing and increasing her Yukari no Takichiri's divinely powerful abilities and unique techniques to their full strength. Lost in thought and still uncertain about the fact that saving Rin from Zero's deathly curse is up to her alone, Setsuna goes to the Sacred of Ages and plays her mother's lullaby on her violin again, while a deeply slumbering Rin listens from within the Sacred Tree of Ages' depths, shedding another tear.
Towa and Setsuna are playing music together. Towa worries about Setsuna's memories while Setsuna is embarrassed that she is unable to be as powerful of a warrior, not yet able to save Rin. Takechiyo and Moroha are making arrangements to escape Jyūbeiand return home. Moroha requires only One Ryou for Jyūbei yet the targets will not even approach her. Takechiyo hires her as his bodyguard and requests she travel with him. Rion talks to Zero, who quickly detects Riku is nearby. Zero intends to execute Towa in front of Riku. Kohaku and Hisui are unimpressed with Towa and Setsuna's performance.
They arrive to help them. Takechiyo and Moroha arrive at his home near Mount Hakone and Mamiana Island. They are greeted warmly by Hachiemon and Takamaru. In battle, Setsuna dodges an attack which reminds Towa to defeat her own fears about fleeing from battle. After that, Towa's skills and self-confidence improve again. Riku and Rion are nearby worrying about her, with Riku saying how Towa is not a protector but one who must be protected by any cost.
Again disguised as Otsuyu, Zero arrives at Nanahoshi's mansion who uses his miniature galaxy to draw strength from her sorrow, but is shocked to discover that Zero does not possess any such sentiment. She takes his shock as an opportunity to immobilize him with the vast demonic powers of her Rainbow Pearls, from within which her tears and sorrows reside, to set a trap for the Half-Demon Princesses. As Kohaku and his demon-slayers are preparing to set out on their mission to a village that requires their exceptional skills in wiping out a herd of fire bulls that have strayed from following the local deity Mayonaka. Using the lavender-scented hand cream that Towa had given her to soften her dry hands, Setsuna glimpses the childlike demon spirit Akuru as Towa had earlier as Riku and Rion had come to request their assistance in accompanying her as Zero is after her very life and those of Setsuna and Moroha as well.
Having to been caught by the Racoon-Dog Tribe, Moroha is incarcerated in a dungeon but manages to use a Swiss Army knife to escape. Hiding in the ceiling to try to reclaim her shortbow and arrows, Moroha is stunned to hear that Takechiyo has a younger brother whose father had his forehead scarred by Inuyasha while his comrade, the Full Moon Raccoon-Dog, was defeated and and imprisoned in a scroll by nineteen-year-old Kagome Higurashi's sealing arrow, which explains the whole Racoon-Dog Tribe's fury and hatred towards Moroha. As the quarter-demon girl is chased by angered racoon-dog demons, she tries to fight them off with her Crimson Dragon Wave attack but it was proven ineffective. Now facing the very foes that her parents had defeated, who are bent on returning the favor, Moroha takes out her rouge to temporarily increase her strength and skills with her new-and-improved Beniyasha form since her battle with Kirinmaru to avenge her beloved half-cousin's recent death. She attacks with her temporarily enhanced Crimson Backlash Wave attack, but her long-lost parents' adversaries do not seem worried in the slightest, which disconcerts her.
Following their encounter with Kirinmaru, Towa, Riku, and Rion come to a stream where Riku washes his injured eyes. The water fails to heal them, however, leaving Riku blind. He claims that this is a good thing as Kirinmaru will no longer be able to see exactly where they are anymore though his eyes. Though a guilt ridden Towa expresses her sadness over this, Riku tells her not to worry as he is still able to sense her presence through the sent of flowers that she resonates. Rion, recognizing it from her travels around the world, identifies the sent as that of lavender. Towa realizes that they are smelling the hand cream she keeps in her pocket for refreshing dried skin. Riku utilizes Towa's lavender-scented hand cream to "fix" his damaged eyes, which turn them from dark green to a light lavender. Though still largely blind, Riku's eyes are healed enough to where he is able to see Towa, much to her joy. This joy quickly turns to fluster when Riku reveals that she is now the only person he can see, causing her to blush in shock. Rion chastises Riku for "teasing" a young lady like Towa, which he apologizes for.
At Mamidaira Island, Moroha is easily beaten by the two rouge raccoon-dogs, despite her bragging that her evolved Beniyasha form was now "new and improved." Takechiyo and Hachi take shelter in a cave as Moroha sleeps from the use of her late paternal grandmother's shell rouge once more.
Still continuing their expedition in Goukou Village, the demon slayers try to find a way to stop the Flame Bulls and finally appease their master Mayonaka the "demon god" deity. Setsuna ends up learning Mayonaka's full story, that he is just a deity who had been deceived by the villagers and even the headman's daughter Oharu, whom he had fallen for. Wanting to help him move on from his sorrow, Setsuna utilizes her Yukari no Tachikiri to cut Mayonaka's light golden threads of destiny from his treasured possession, the Blessing of the Five Grains. Once she does so, the shine crumples to reveal Oharu's dead body (who had been used as sacrifice) which shocks Mayonaka. Finally understanding eevrything, he hugs his human lover and leaves with her spirit to heaven. As the demon slayers depart, Setsuna begins to get a strange senstation and wonders what it could be.
Moroha, Takechiyo and Hachiemon are on their way to recover Moroha's shortbow and arrows from the rouge raccoon-dog Shogen Mamiana and take shetler in a cave. In an inn, Setsuna is hauled up as she experiences what is like to be fully mortal for the first time in an entire decade; her already long black hair hair growing to nearly reach her caves and her eyes turning from blue to brown. Knowing how useless she is, Setsuna gives Hisu written instructions on how to deal with the demons that have come for.
While building a hang guilder, Hachiemon tells Moroha the story about how the Shogen and Full Moon Raccoon Dog, the guardian spirit of the whole tribe, were defeated by Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi, Miroku and Sango. Inuyasha had used the Wind Scaragainst Shogen, giving him the scar on his forehead. With help from Hachiemon, Kagome had managed to immobilize the Full Moon Raccoon Dog in a pillar of mighty spiritual power and have him fully absorbed within a scroll which was later strengthened somewhat with Miroku's help.
Wanting information on how to put an end to this feud, Takechiyo has Takamaru find either Miroku or Sango, to ask just how Shogen and his demonic magic were defeated. Meanwhile, an equally powerless Towa expresses her deep concerns over her twin sister finally experiencing the effects of the new moon since her Dream Butterfly was cut down. However, she is abducted and taken to Nanahoshi's mansion, where Zero attempts to use what she has learned from seeing Towa's memories within the Silver Rainbow Pearl that the Half-Demon Princess has had within her left eye for fourteen whole years to help Nanahoshi further his own power by feasting on Towa's enduring sadness and unpredictability.
Deep within the Sacred Tree of Ages, again tinted with a redish hue, Sesshōmaru and Jaken watch over Rin whose body is gradually being covered with several more silver-scales than ever since the Dream Butterfly was cut off from her and Setsuna. This worries Jaken greatly for the sake of his lord and master. Although still weak, Rin manages to open her eyes and pleads for Sesshōmaru to let her see their twin daughters one last time before she dies. As her husband is about to exit the Sacred Tree's core, Rin informs him that she can tell that Towa is crying. Once outside, Jaken reminds his master that tonight is a new moon, and that Towa and Setsuna's demon powers have been nutralized. At the inn, where the fully human Setsuna continues to finally sleep, Yukinoyudo the Snow-Demon continues to egde closer with the intent of settling an old score.
Meanwhile, back on Mamidaira Island, Hacheimon has digsued himself as the rouge raccoon-dog demon Shogen and uses a captured Moroha to enter the castle with ease, Moroha manages to reclaim her shortbow and arrows, only to encounter the scroll containing the bewitched guardian spirit Full Moon Raccoon Dog that her mother had sealed away. The quarter-demon attempts to end him with a sacred arrow, but it mocks her low level of spiritual powerand is unharmed.
Moroha gives Takechiyo the two letters that Miroku had written eplaining the instrucntions on how to defeat Shogen by utilizing his own World Reversaltechnique against him. She attacks with another Crimson Backlash Wave at its lowest speed, but is again countered by said technique from Shogen. It is then that she realizes that she and Takechiyo are to use it togther. They blast the rouge raccoon-dog demon far back on the island, finally releasing the Full Moon Raccoon Dog guardian spirit from his mind control spell. Takechiyo presents Moroha with the one royru to finally pay off her master's debt, but Moroha declines, saying that being a bounty hunter is her life now.
As the sun rises, Setsuna's demonic powers are restored and she heads out to protect her fellow demon-slayers on their way home. Meanwhile, Towa has started to succumb to Nanahoshi's eternity bug and her pink eyes finally begins to shed tears, reveaing that she has now started to break due to Zero's persistence on bringing forth the darkness from the depths of Towa's spririt.
Having to been abducted by Zero and her suffering absorbed by Nanahoshi's miniature galaxy, Towa is forced to recall her troubled childhood memories in the modern era when she was constantly mocked by bullies for her "making Setsuna up" although she wasn't lying. It is during this ordeal that Zero's motives are revealed.
Meanwhile, Sesshōmaru goes to Kohaku to bring Setsuna to the Sacred Tree of Ages, where the hardhearted Half-Demon Princess comes face-to-face with her ailing mother for the first time since her Dream Butterfly was cut down and started the re-progression the silver-scale curse upon Rin's body quickly. A weakened Rin informs Setsuna that cutting the thread of fate will not lift the curse but that she must first save Zero from herself. Baffled, Setsuna reminds her mother that Zero is her enemy and that she does not deserve pity from her. Rin, however, assures her youngest twin daughter that the curse is Zero's way of being unable to let go of her regrets and bitterness. She gives Setsuna a glowing yellowish light, was the Dream Butterfly that Setsuna recognizes. Setsuna exits the Sacred Tree of Ages and heads to where her twin sister is with a thread of fate as her guide.
Riku and Rion finally manage arrive to help Towa, only to see that one of the most optimistic and warmhearted of the Half-Demon Princesses has lost her sanity to her deepest fury and hatred, which has resulted in the awakening her innermost demonic self in full swing. However, this is exactly what Zero has been hoping for. Riku then realizes that Zero's way to "survive until the very end" is for Towa to kill her, and tries to hold Towa off but she is far too powerful. Wanting to send Towa to Hell personally, she absorbs all seven of her Rainbow Pearls into her eyes, thus being granted even greater demonic abilities than ever before as a rainbow-colored demonic aura is emitted all around her, which shocks Riku.
Now that Towa has tapped into the depths of her deepest fury and hatred and has allowed her demonic self to fully awaken, the utterly berserk Half-Demon Princess is set on putting an end to Zero once and for all. Things escalate further as Zero has regained even greater demonic abilities from absorbing all of her seven Rainbow Pearls into her eyes and is set on personally sending Towa to Hell. Meanwhile, Kirinmaru detects Akuru through the sound of its pinwheel and gives chase to him to make use of his extraordinary time-based abilities. As Moroha and Jaken arrive right outside the Sacred Tree of Ages and Bone-Eater's Well, Sesshōmaru hands the Black Pearl over to Moroha, explaining that his younger half-brother and his wife, her parents, are within it.
As Towa is about to cut Zero down, Setsuna arrives to help calm down her twin sister. With a Dream Butterfly she received from Rin, Setsuna and Towa see the truth of what happened in the forest. It turns out Towa never left Setsuna behind in the fire, and following their separation, Setsuna was left inconsolable before Rin and Jaken attached a Dream Butterfly to Setsuna to remove her memories of the fire and Towa to save her from the grief. Towa, who has now returned to her senses, and Setsuna tearfully embrace as they fully rekindle their bond as sisters. Towa thanks Zero for helping her realize the love she had in her life, but Zero, knowing Towa has no more reason to kill her, prepares to take her own life to kill Rin. Setsuna quickly sees a second thread of fateconnecting Zero to the spirit of the Great Dog Demon and severs it.
The deep regrets Zero held are revealed to be that she felt responsible for Tōga's death, and with the Rainbow Pearls shattered, Zero sheds tears once more. However, the Great Dog Demon's spirit consoles her and expresses his gratitude. Now at peace and ready to pass on, Zero severs the thread of fate connecting her and Rin and lifts the silver-scale curse she had placed on her before Riku tearfully stabs her. Zero tells Setsuna and Towa that Kirinmaru's hatred of humans of samurai by the orders of Emperor Daigo, but they were no match for him, and half-demons comes from the fact that one such took Rion's life was Sakasa whose going to avenge his master's death. She dies afterwards, hoping to see Kirinmaru in the Afterlife. Rin is released of the Sacred Tree of Ages and awakens in Sesshōmaru's arms, glad that her daughters saved Zero.
Back at the Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha, who is determined and hopeful at finally getting to meet her parents ever since she first saw their incarceration in the Border of the Afterlife, is approached by Kirinmaru who promptly takes the Black Pearl from her before issuing her an ultimatum: Find and bring Akuru's pinwheel to him or she will never see her parents again.
An enraged Moroha challenges Kirinmaru to a fight since she refused to get Akuru and his pinwheel in which she reminds her from Rion warns them about Akuru and the Windmill of Time back at Mount Musubi, but ends up being outnumbered by the Beast King of the East with relative ease, despite the new-and-improved strength of her Beniyasha form and advancement in her spiritual abilities. Having finally been released from the silver-scale curse, Rin is told to remain safe within the Sacred Tree of Ages under Jaken's watchful eye as Sesshōmaru exits to assist his half-niece in taking down his late father's rival. Towa and Setsuna leave the recently departed Lord Nanahoshi's mansion to reunite with their humanmother Rin, but decide to help their cousin Moroha take down Kirinmaru. It is then that Sesshōmaru emerges and he and Kirinmaru again engage in a battle causing the very earth and heavens to resound once again. Meanwhile, Rion makes the decision to put an end to her own father, fully aware that by doing so would mean Riku's demise as well, being Kirinmaru's incarnation made from his broken right horn. Riku is not worried, as he has been prepared for such a moment for some time now and cherishes the time, however brief, that he had spent with Towa. To further assist her in her mission, Rion asks that Riku take her back to Mount Musubi.
Hearing shaking from outside, Rin and Jaken exit the Sacred Tree of Ages just as Sesshōmaru has taken the hit for his twin daughters' and half-niece from the Bakuseiken's immensely powerful and lethal Demon Fireball attack, which gradually begins to drain him of his very lifeblood essence (haku) but not before Sesshōmaru uses his remaining strength to send the Half-Demon Princesses into the Black Pearl to protect them from further attacks. Severely injured and weakened, Sesshōmaru still manages to mask his presence as his haku is gradually drained from him. At the Border of the Afterlife, near Tōga's tomb, the Half-Demon Princesses encounter none other than Kagome Higurashi, who at first is skeptical but embraces Moroha in joyful tears. Inuyasha then appears and is thoroughly shocked at suddenly seeing his first child in fourteen years since her infancy.
In Tōga's tomb, Towa and Setsuna get to know their half-aunt Kagome, who is surprised and happy to know how her family has been for the next fourteen years through Towa. Inuyasha and Moroha are awkward towards one another, with Moroha sobbing in his arms as he tells her how he and Kagome had never stopped thinking about her. Back in the physical world, Jaken and Rin find a fatally wounded and weakened Sesshōmaru whose haku continues to drained away due to Kirinmaru's Demon Fireballattack that he had taken for his twin daughters and half-niece.
Setsuna wonders how Inuyasha and Kagome were able to recognize Moroha, to which they show the half dog-demon twins the Lake of the Staff of Two Heads. From time to time, they were able to see images of their infant daughter via Jaken's staff. From hearing how Towa had returned Setsuna to life with the broken Tenseiga, Inuyasha realizes that the Tenseiga is their key to finally returning to the physical realm.
Just as Kirinmaru is about to kill Rin, Sesshōmaru still manages to retaliate with a strong burst of greenish demonic energy in spite of his weakened state. The Beast King of the East then explains of how the Grim Comet will return in full five centuries from now and that he intends to prove to Akuru that he is the strongest of all sentient beings. When asked how he can foresee such an apocalypse occurring within the distant future, Kirinmaru reveals that his right arm has become his additional incarnation: Osamu Kirin! This revelation about her homeroom teacher being her archenemy's right-hand man, literally, horrifies Towa.
With Sesshōmaru growing ever weaker, Rin and Jaken take him to the Sacred Tree of Ages as they await Towa and Setsuna's return. Meanwhile, Shippō transports himself and Takechiyo to the village of the demon-slayers and reunites with Sango. Takechiyo explains that Inuyasha and Kagome have been within the Black Pearl all this time, prompting Sango to realize that the time to utilize the Black Hiraikotsu has finally come. Towa manages to call forth Tenseiga, but it is embedded in the pedestal that Tessaiga was once in all those centuries ago. As more demonic power is required, Setsuna and Moroha join their demonic strength with that of Towa's and manage to pull it out. They all finally escape the Border of the Afterlife, where Shippō and Takechiyo await them. Moroha decides to keep the Black Pearl within her late grandmother's rouge, as it holds memories that are most precious to her, assuming that keeping her paternal grandparents residual essences so close together would please Tōga.
Shippo manages to transport them to the Bone-Eater's Well, Towa and Setsuna running off to the Sacred Tree of Ages. Inuyasha and Kagome notice that Moroha declines to go with them, knowing that she does want to interfere with her half-cousins reunion with their parents. Rin finally reunites with Setsuna and meets Towa for the very first time, with Jaken reminding the twins that their father is in grave danger. Towa utilizes the supreme power of the Kyūyōkon Root within Zanseiken to absorb all of the Demon Fireball's energy. Sesshōmaru tells his eldest daughter to desist, but she continues, even her strength diminishes. Towa then falls unconscious as her mother screams out her name.
At the Higurashi shrine, a concerned Grandpa looks at the dark shadows that have now appeared on the Sacred Tree of Ages, fully aware of how ill an omen it is. His daughter expresses her own concerns at whether something would happen to Kagome and Towa, to which he replies that he simply does not know but is certain of something far worse happening sooner than later, implying that the old man can detect the Grim Comet somehow. Mei then leaves her grandmother and great-grandfather, as she is meeting her good friend Itsumi. She greets Osamu Kirin, who returns the young girl's kindness but is sad to see her so full of life and happiness that will be wiped out by the imminent annihilation of humanity by the comet as he is the only being who can see it.
Akuru heals Towa with his pinwheel and the Sacred Tree of Ages' essence appears to inform Towa and Setsuna that they and Moroha have been chosen by Akuru to destroy the Grim Comet as well as "the foreign entity" in the modern era. Rin then tells her twin daughters that they must do what they were destined to do and return safely, so that they can finally get a big hug from their parents for their heroic deeds. The twins assure their human mother that they will return and leave with Jaken to use the Windmill of Time to go to the modern era with aid from their dog-demon grandmother. Rin then sheds the tears she has been holding back and wonders if letting her daughters' go into such danger was all for the best, to which a still weakened and recovering Sesshōmaru smiles at his wife reassuringly.
At the Bone-Eater's Well, Moroha has been catching up with her long-lost parents who present her with a longbow made from materials from her grandfather's tomb and Inuyasha's silver-white hair. Kagome also tells her daughter that the Bone-Eater's Well is where she came from to the feudal era, that it is a very special place for her and Inuyasha. The family reunion is interrupted by the reappearance of Kirinmaru who demands that Sesshōmaru come out. Inuyasha tells Kagome and Moroha to stand back as he fights the one responsible for their fourteen-year separation. Kagome assures him that she will be fine, and Moroha says that she will never run away from any fight as she has survived this long on her own. Inuyasha unleashes with his Wind Scar and Adamant Barrageattacks, but Kirinmaru is strong enough to withstand them. Kagome and Moroha attack with sacred arrows, but have no more luck than Inuyasha in doing away with the rogue beast king.
Incensed at the constant inference from Tōga's sons, daughter-in-laws, and granddaughters, Kirinmaru is more determined than ever to bring the remaining members of the Dog-Demon clan and all those who follow them to an end. Inuyasha attempts to end him with his own demonic energy-based attack with Backlash Wave, but it, too, is ineffective as Kirinmaru's demonic aura is immensely stronger. He is disturbed at seeing Moroha, who is using her parents' gift to supercharge an arrow with even stronger and more effective spiritual power, causing him to dodge it, immediately berating himself for resorting to such cowardly tactics. Having had more than enough of "further acts of insolence" the beast king retaliates with a strong blast of his purple demonic energy, but the demonic energy shield from Tessaiga's sheathleaves parents and daughter unscathed.
Towa and Setsuna arrive and tell Moroha that they must go to the modern era to annihilate the Grim Comet, which shocks and infuriates Kirinmaru as he wants to do just that and be worshiped as a god by humanity. Moroha notices Akuru pulling her as insistence for her to join her twin half-cousins on their journey through time. Inuyasha tells his daughter to go one ahead as it is her destiny to be with her friends. Jaken goes to show the Half-DemonPrincesses the way. Kirinmaru is about to be in pursuit but is stopped at sword point by Inuyasha who will never let Kirinmaru lay even one finger on his daughter. Takechiyo offers to take them to the palace of Sesshōmaru's dog-demon mother faster by riding on him as usual.
On an increasingly exhausted Shippō's spinning top to transport to the village much faster, Kagome admits how it has been fourteen years since she and Inuyasha were there last. Kaede is nearly pulverized by Shippō and is genuinely surprised at seeing Kagome and Inuyasha alive and well, having amused like everyone else that they were deceased. Kagome tells the elderly priestess to evacuate the villagers with the warning that something much worse would be occurring soon. On Takechiyo, the Half-Demon Princesses, Jaken and Akuru have reached the palace of Sesshōmaru's mother and get to see the Windmill of Time, with which Kirinmaru is so obsessed with. The mighty daiyōkai female awaits the arrival of her twin granddaughters and step-granddaughter on her throne.
Back in Tokyo, Mei and her friend Itsumi notice strange-looking crows that swarm to attack them, revealing themselves to be none other than carrion crow-demons. They are instantly destroyed by a stream of purplish demonic power that was fired from Osamu Kirin's arm. Incredulous at the sudden appearance of demons that have been extinct five centuries ago beginning to emerge from the Grim Comet. He wonders what he can do about them in his present state as the Grim Comet looms ever closer to the Earth.
The Half-Demon Princesses meet Sesshōmaru's noble dog-demon mother at her palace, who tells them that they can go the Windmill of Time and the doorway of time should open for them. To test them further, she summons Meidomaru of the Wrath of the Underworld. Near Mount Musubi, Kirinmaru uses his Bakuseiken to replenish his undead daughter's hakuso she can move again. The rouge Beast King informs Rion and Riku about his dream to travel to the modern era and "save" humanity by destroying the Grim Comet. Rion refuses as accomplishing such a feat would bring about the Degenerate Age in the feudal era. Her father assures her that he has started procuring a new body for her- Towa!
The Half-Demon Princess have trouble holding off Meidomaru as he is connected to multiple threads of fate due the grudges belonging to the many demons he had absorbed. With her new longbow given to her by her parents, Moroha's enhanced sacred arrow now enables her to break the enemy's weapon and weaken them greatly, allowing his threads of fate to be seen by Towa. She uses the Zanseiken to absorb his demonic energies, which her grandmother recognizes as belonging to the God of Stars, and Setsuna cuts his threads of fate. Rion is shocked at what she has done to Towa, and Riku furiously engages in battle with Kirinmaru, stating that he would gladly sacrifice his artificial life for Towa. Using her late aunt's staff, Rion holds her father off, but accidentally runs Riku through with it, deeply devastating her. Kirinmaru abducts his own daughter and drugs her, flying off in pursuit of the Half-Demon Princesses.
Having to passed their grandmother's test, the Half-Demon Princesses are told of the curse placed on Zanseiken and that its owner will eventually inhabit Towa's body should her kon be further drained. Towa vows to master the Zanseiken, to which her grandmother says that she can do she sees fit. Akuru presents his pinwheel to Towa, who opens a time portal in one of the Windmill of Time's gears to return to the modern era. Close at hand, Kirinmaru calls to Osamu Kirin to lead him to the future as hordes of demons come from the Windmill of Time. Within the Sacred Tree of Ages, Rin senses that something big has occurred. As they travel through the rainbow corridor, Towa vows that after destroying the Grim Comet, she will uphold the promise she had made to Rin about returning safe and sound.
The Half-Demon Princesses return to the modern era and reunite with Mei, her grandmother and great-grandfather. They inform them of the Grim Comet and leave to find Osamu Kirin. The right arm of the rouge Beast King explains his love for how humanity has evolved on their own and that he wants to ensure their survival as they will remain utterly oblivious to their sudden extinction.
The Half-Demon Princesses go to warn Moe Higurashi of the danger she is in, but she brushes it off and performs as the violinist. Stuck in the rift between the feudal and modern eras, Kirinmaru orders his right arm to lead there. At night, the Half-Demon Princesses and Osamu Kirin prepare to fight as the Grim Comet finally reveals itself.
In the modern era, the Half-Demon Princesses and Osamu Kirin try their best to obliterate the Grim Comet, but it is far too vast and powerful. Osamu Kirin plunges right into its heart and discovers its true self as a pale blue glowing substance. Once declaring that he eradiate all demons, Kirinmaru's additional incarnation manages to use his mighty demonic powers to make the Comet follow him all the way to the feudal era in order to fulfill Kirinmaru's wish in destroying it. Osamu Kirin finally meets his other half in the flesh and shows the Beast King images of the modern world certain that Rion would love them. As hordes of demons keep appearing the attack, Priestess Kaede is still able to hold her own against them for awhile with Inuyasha, Kagome Higurashi and Shippō as back up. Miroku manages to purify several hordes with his immensely stronger Buddhist/spiritual powers as Sango exterminates another with her Black Hiraikotsu, which is strong enough to purify evil demonic energies as it has been infused with Kin'u's own developing Buddhist powers. Having finally reached Mount Musubi, Rion asks for it to infuse her with the vast mystical strength of the Kyūyōkon Root. Riku gives her the apple seed her kept since his first meeting with Towa, which grows into an apple tree that leaves one glowing green apple that Rion takes with her. Still within the Sacred Tree of Ages, a worried Rin is wiping her Sesshōmaru's brow as she prays for Towa and Setsuna's safety. Back in the modern era, the Half-Demon Princesses realize that since Osamu Kirin intends to wipe out all demons, which means that Sesshōmaru and Inuyasha are in danger. They ask the Sacred Tree of Ages to open the gateway to the past, but it does not answer.
The Half-Demon Princesses decide to ask next morning for the Sacred Tree of Ages to open its gateway to the feudal era, so they can help their fathers, in case Osamu targets them. Sōta tells Towa that he will always think of her as his biological daughter, and that the decade they had together was the joyous years of his and Moe's lives. Towa assures a weeping Mei that she will remember her always. Moe tells Setsuna to keep it up with the violin, which the half-demon girl promises. Akuru then appears to open the portal on the Sacred Tree's trunk, albeit with some difficulty, but sadly fades away from entering his time-based powers. Mei assures Towa that she will no longer cry, and that the half-demon girl does not need to worry about her anymore. As the portal closes, Moe assures her husband that they will someday see them again, which Sōta agrees. Back in the feudal era, the Half-Demon Princesses are shocked at just how massive and imtinidating the Grim Comet become. Towa wonders exactly what her homeroom teacher is after, as Inuyasha and Kagome arrive to inform their daughter and twin half-nieces that demons has been being absorbed into the true form of the Grim Comet: the Grim Butterfly! Osamu senses the presence of Riku, his "younger brother" as both are Kirinmaru's incarnations, and prepares to achieve his ultimate goal. As Riku holds off demons, Rion approaches her father who is asleep after fighting Osamu. Seeing this as an opportunity, Rion holds the Kyūyōkon apple to surpress Kirinmaru's immense demonic powers, but is approached by Osamu. He expresses his happiness at finally meeting her, reminding her that he is the right arm that Tōga of the West had cut off six centuries ago. He assures Rion that he will help her construct a peaceful world, in which she no longer have to suffer. Conflicted, Rion allows Osamu to fly off with her, and they become linked with the Grim Butterfly via threads of fate, a feat that will ensure Osamu's immortality. He offers Riku the same, but he declines as it is not what he desires to achieve, even for Towa's sake. Having regained conscious, Kirinmaru witnesses Rion being absorbed into the Grim Butterfly and flies to tear it open in a desperate attempt to reach his beloved daughter. Kohaku arrives to give Towa a genuine Kikujūmonji, which can repel evil spirits, and leaves with his nephew Hisui. Within the Sacred Tree of Ages, Sesshōmaru finally awakens and exits the Tree with Rin, only to encounter Kirinmaru who desires to finally settle their duel. Sesshōmaru tells his wife to watch him as he fights, and that she tells her mighty demon husband that she will not back away.
Towa and the others managed to enter inside The Grim Butterfly, but before their eyes however, Osamu Kirin blocks their path on saving Rion. Kirinmaru challenges Sesshōmaru to a duel to see who is the strongest demon. Elsewhere, Inuyasha and his partners attempt to stop the Grim Butterfly, only to face the hardest test of their lives.
Towa regains her demonic abilities and takes back the almighty Zanseiken from her homeroom teacher, ultimately defeating him. She and Riku go to backup Setsuna and Moroha, who are still dealing with the multicolored threads of fate that prevents them from coming any closer to Rion. With each thread cut, the Half-Demon Princesses hear the deep bitter resentment Rion has been harboring towards Kirinmaru all along for never truly listening to what she had wanted. Towa is determined to save Rion with the Zanseiken, again disregarding her twin sister's warnings of her kon being drained away due to its curse. Outside, the Grim Butterfly manages to overcover the vastly powerful spiritual shield Miroku and Kagome had erected as Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru continue to duel with the title of "the strongest demon" on the line. During the skirmish, Kirinmaru recalls the true reason why he lost Rion all those centuries ago.
Per Riku's request, the girls embark to the west to deal with demons causing trouble now that the power balance has changed with Kirinmaru's absence.

Trivia[]
- The show had aired on Toonami with a few commercial promos. It aired on Toknami on June 26, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
- The only anime series not to be base off of the Inuyasha manga. The mana came out sometime after season two wrapped up.
- The series is directed by Teruo Sato with main character designs by Inuyasha original creator Rumiko Takahashi.
- It started airing on the same day InuYasha The Final Act started airing in 2009.
- As the Modern Era is the Reiwa Era, it puts the current year in 2020. It also puts the current Past Era at 1583 (going by Moroha's birth year).
- Episodes 9 and 10 are continuity errors. Given Meioju's remains were destroyed along with Naraku (due to Moryomaru having eaten Meioju first before Naraku ate him) and Kinka and Ginka are already dead.
- Towa announces the episode titles, similarly to how Inuyasha did in the original series and The Final Act.
- The episodes are dubbed in English and aired within a period of 5-7 weeks after the original Japanese airdate.
- Towa and Setsuna are the second set of half-demon twins in the InuYasha franchise; the first were the identical twin brothers Dai and Roku in the 4th and final film.
- The anime uses demons from the manga that were ignored in the making of The Final Act. So far they are mostly from the part of the story that took place between Episode 168and Episode 174.
- This is the final animated media to feature Miroku's original English voice actor, Kirby Morrow, who passed away after recording for the anime premiere.
- Ogigayatsu Hiiragi Danjo, a shogunate adviser from Kantō, obviously comes from the Ogigayatsu clan. In real Japanese history, the Ogigayatsu were a branch of the Uesugi clan, a notable samurai clan.
- The blanket Towa had over her is almost identical to the one the Infant was wearing.
- It is revealed that after Kagome returns to the feudal era, the Bone-Eater's Well was sealed and no longer works as a portal through time.
- The SFX for Inuyasha's ears moving is different from the one we hear in the original series and The Final Act.
- In the English dub, Moroha is the first character to say the curse word "Shit" in the series.
- The punks who defy Towa bear a strong resemblance to Lum's Stormtroopers and Ataru Moroboshi from Urusei Yatsura and Tatewaki Kuno from Ranma ½ (other franchise of Rumiko Takahashi).
- Episode 2aired on Rumiko Takahashi's 63rd Birthday.
- The makeup pouch that Moroha keeps her Rainbow Pearl in is almost identical to the onethat Izayoi had.
- According to Towa, the fights with the bullies originated back from when she stopped a bully in elementary school.
- Kaede reveals that the Bone-Eater's Well stopped working over 20 years ago. Since this well stopped working after the final return of Kagome Higurashi to the Feudal era[1], this means that Hisui must now be 20 years old.
- Episode 3 reveals that Moroha somehow knows about Sesshōmaru's paternity, but has no idea that he is her half-uncle, Inuyasha and Kagome are her parents, and Towa and Setsuna are her half-cousins. The twins also don't have information about their roots for unknown reasons, and Towa didn't even know the term "half-demon" until this day.
- It turns out that Setsuna has completely forgot her past after the mysterious fire that separated her from Towa. Moroha also reveals that her half-cousin is under the curse of the Dream Butterfly that has consumed Setsuna's dreams and taken away her ability to sleep. However, it is not yet known whether these two events happened to Setsuna at the same time or not.
- The origin of the Bone-Eater's Well is revealed, it was made from the wood of the Sacred Tree. That's why this well once have allowed time travel. This is also the first time this has been confirmed in the anime from the franchise's creator, as this information about the well was previously only reported in the first InuYashamovie.
- Kohaku reveals that the Sacred Tree is also called the Tree of Ages. Not to be confused with the other tree of same name that Menōmaru once used.
- In the beginning of the 4th episode, Moroha suggests to some elders that she is about 450 years older than them in the modern era while they are doing a martial art exercise.
- Grandpa Higurashi offers Moroha the same alleged mummified foot of a kappa he tried to offer Kagome for her 15th birthday in the very first episode, and Moroha makes the same expression Kagome did, but otherwise has the opposite reaction. Moroha noted that such an item is treasured (due to coming from when the demon is still alive); it later DOES provide good luck by serving as a distraction.
- Moroha stole Sōta's credit card to buy supplies, much to his utter horror due the massive bills.
- Moroha is to blame for the book of future knowledge that was discovered by Towa's captors in the first episode.
- The path used to go back to the feudal era is similar to the spirit road often used in Kyoukai no Rinne.
- The Sacred Tree mentions the sealing arrow on its trunk, which Kikyō had demonstrated to her younger sister Kaede in "The Tragic Love Song of Destiny, Part 2". However, it does not inform Moroha that her father had been sealed on its trunk for half a century.
- From Episode 5, Inuyasha can be further seen behind Sesshōmaru in the opening.
- The plot of episode 5 is essentially the same as the arc with the Bone Demon and her father as it uses scenes that were not adapted in Episode 179 of InuYasha The Final Act.
- Its revealed that Setsuna had met Miroku at some point, not knowing his relationship to Kohaku as his brother-in-law.
- The girl at the beginning of episode 6 bears a strong resemblance to Sayo of Episode 22 of Inuyasha.
- Episode 6 incorporates the arc with the Unnamed Cat Demon, which only occurs in the manga from chapters 393-395 and was not adapted in InuYasha The Final Act.
- Episode 6 is the 1st episode where Kohaku and Hisui don't appear.
- Episode 7 serves as a prologue for the premiere.
- The title of Episode 7 refers to Towa and Riku's very first encounter.
- Towa's natural ability to detect demonic energy nearby begins to develop.
- The names of Kohaku's acolytes are revealed.
- A fast food restaurant is featured representing Burger King in Towa's dream.
- The music that Setsuna played on her violin is the song that Asagi sang in the 4th and final film.
- Kirinmaru makes his official debut, though his face has yet to be revealed as he has donned his dog-shaped mask.
- Episode 8 revealed that Kagome had sent Moroha away as a baby to Hachi the Racoon-Dog for her infant daughter's safety while she and Inuyasha readied themselves to battle Sesshōmaru and Lord Kirinmaru. These events are explored more fully in Episode Fifteen.
- In Episode 8 Miroku entrusted Takechiyo to Jyūbei's care for currently unknown reasons.
- Kyūki is the second of the Four Perils to die after her companion Tōkotsu.
- This is the first time Towa has seen her mother who is in the Sacred Tree of Ages. However, she is not aware of their family relations.
- Episode 9 was originally titled "Meioju's Happiness in the Next World".
- Starting with episode 9, demons eaten by Mōryōmaru appear again.
- Episode 9 incorporates the story about the Meiōjū having been defeated by a monk and a piece of his shell having been stolen and used for an armor which was not adapted in InuYasha: The Final Act as Mōryōmaru directly encounters and absorbs the Meiōjū in Episode 169, with a different Meiōjū.
- Episode 9 was the first episode of the English dub to air in 2021, one whole week later than scheduled.
- The title refers to said Rainbow Pearls within the eyes of Setsuna and Towa respectively.
- Episode 10 incorporates scenes from the manga that were not adapted in InuYasha The Final Act, such as Inuyasha's group finding a burned cow, the villagers warning them of Ginka and Kinka coming, and Kinka bathing Tessaiga in fire.
- Joka's reason to resent Sesshōmaru would not be revealed until Episode 15.
- When Ginka and Kinka perish, the song Setsuna plays on the violin is heard, indicating that it is a song of sorrow and grief
- Setsuna starts to recall certain memories of her childhood, though she is still unaware as to who the other person is.
- Episode 11 features two demons from the manga that didn't appear in InuYasha The Final Act, working together.
- Chiyo and Hikomaru bear a strong resemblance to Yuki and her brother from Episode 43. Additionally both siblings lost their parents to a demon.
- Moroha had a same fear just like her father. Her father Inuyasha gets fear from her mother Kagome in Episode 1 (FA) and Episode 19 (FA).
- Chiyo and Hikomaru display starry eyes which were featured in many characters in many works by Rumiko Takahashi: The Mizunokōji family from Urusei Yatsura. Genji Heita from Ranma 1/2. Coach Suzuki, Jun Natsukawa and Mr. Eggplant from Kyōkai no Rinne.
- Towa and Setsuna are revealed to be immune to certain poisons and venoms inherited from Sesshōmaru.
- We see Kohaku not in his demon-slaying uniform for the first time since his youth.
- Episode 12 incorporates the arc with Nikosen, which only occurs in the manga from chapters 412-415 and was not adapted in InuYasha The Final Act.
- Unlike Setsuna and Moroha, Towa is the only main character of the trio to lose her demonic powers during the Night of the New Moon. Moroha isn't affected since she's a quarter-demon; and despite being a half-demon, Setsuna also isn't affected since her dreams and memories were stolen by the Dream Butterfly.
- This is perhaps one of the first times that the main characters have donned their poison-shielding filter masks (only two masks are what they each have, however).
- It explains why Towa never went though a demon power cycle in the Modern World.
- Its episode title is similar to "The Mystery of the New Moon and the Black-Haired Inuyasha" and shares similarities with it: Both episodes feature the half dog-demon protagonist temporarily losing all of their abilities during the night of a new moon. Their hair color also changes from silver to black. Lack of knife-sharp dog fangs, claws and superhuman senses. Inability to utilize their signature demon swords. They regain their demon abilities at the last minute and save the day.
- This was the final episode to air in the year 2020. It is also the final episode to have NEW ERA as the opening theme and Break as the ending theme.
- Episode 13 was originally titled "Warring States, Delicious Monk". Both titles refer to high-level monks on Tōtetsu's menu.
- This is Sango's and Miroku's first appearance in the current storyline of Hanyō no Yashahime; previously, they had only appeared in the prologue and flashbacks.
- Episode 13 is also the debut of Miroku's new voice actor, Ian James Corlett in the English Dub, the replacement for the late Kirby Morrow.
- This episode is the first time the half-demon twins does not meet up with their cousin Moroha.
- Tōtetsu and Setsuna refer to spiritual powers as "Buddhist Powers”.
- It is revealed that mantra Setsuna previously chanted in Episode 5 is the spiritual seal on her dog-demon blood.
- A flashback of Episode 173 (Episode 6 of The Final Act) is shown in episode 13.
- Towa and Setsuna are unaware that Tōtetsu possesses the seventh and final Rainbow Pearl.
- Towa mentions the Chinese novel Journey to the West which Kagome talks about in Episode 129.
- Sango is noticeably paler. Likely because she doesn't get as much sun due to no longer traveling as a demon slayer.
- Gyokuto is seen traveling alone without much concern. It's possible she's had some hand-to-hand combat training from her parents for self-defense. Her identical twin sister is not seen for some reason.
- It is revealed that Sango established the Memorial Tower and the house which she, Miroku, Kin'u and Gyokuto have moved to the old demon slayer village.
- The Memorial Tower is for the demon slayers that have been killed by Naraku.
- In the English Dub, Towa refers to Sōta's white collar job as a full-time job.
- Episode 14 is the first episode to air in 2021. It is also the first episode to have BURN as the opening theme and Kesshou as the ending theme.
- Episode 14 marks the first time on the showthat the girls fight not a demon, but a god.
- It is revealed that the forest fire that resulted in the separation of the half-demon twins was not random but deliberately by Homura, who was ordered by a green-eyed, white-haired female demon named Zero to "erase those cursed half-demon sisters from the face of this world".
- In addition, it turned out that Zero gave this order with the permission of Sesshōmaru, who seemed to want his daughters dead for unknown reasons.
- This is Riku's third appearance. He does not utilize the purple Rainbow Pearl he had taken from Kyūki.
- Towa mentioning how one cannot get a signal with a cellphone in the feudal era is what Kagome had said in Episode 18 of The Final Act.
- Homura's great obsession with Tamano is quite similar to how the human man Mikagi/the Progenitor was with his tennyo/celestial maiden/angel wife Ceres, even after her spirit was continuously reborn into the bodies of daughters in the Mikage family, in the manga and anime miniseries Ceres, Celestial Legend.
- This is the first time Towa brings out her inner rage.
- Episode 15 marks the second flashback narrative and prologue of Hanyō no Yashahime.
- The half-demon twins are all born during a lunar eclipse as was Inuyasha, as seen in the Swords of Supreme Conquest movie. The lunar eclipse (1296 + 209 = 1505) that it happens for same birth of the dog half-demons. The flashback of Sō’unga appear as Tōga with Kirinmaru stops the Grim Comet.
- It is revealed that Riku had once been in possession of the green Rainbow Pearl as well as the blue one; the green Pearl's current possessor is Jyūbei.
- Lady Joka's desire for vengeance on Sesshōmaru was due to him slicing off her arms and attaining the Gold and Sliver Rainbow Pearls from her.
- Shippō and Miroku do not appear in this flashback narrative as they had in the premiere.
- Izayoi's rouge first appear in Episode 147 in flashbacks of young Kaede about her sister; Inuyasha gave it to Kikyō as a gift, but it was destroyed by Naraku in Episode 148. Hōsenki II somehow had its fragments recovered and reassembled albeit with difficulty.
- It is revealed that powerful mystical pearls are created from the tears of deep sorrow and grief from either humans or demons; the late Lady Izayoi having made the Black Pearl, and Zero the Gold and Silver Rainbow Pearls.
- Inuyasha and Kagome's current whereabouts are revealed- the demon graveyard of Tōga and Hōsenki I.
- It is confirmed that Rin is Towa and Setsuna's mother.
- While not stated, Rin was likely put in her slumber shortly after the forest fire; which would match up with the Yume no Kochō stealing Setsuna's sleep and memory.
- Jaken's voice is different in the English dub.
- Hisui's height when Rin gave birth to the twins can be considered erroneous, as it seemed way shorter than his own sisters' and not the same as Towa and Setsuna's during the forest fire.
- The prophecy of the defeat and demise of Zero and Lord Kirinmaru is similar to the 1997 Disney film Hercules that the Fates' future vision that Hercules will defeat Hades. As well as the prophecy depicting Harry Potter ultimately ending Lord Voldemort from the Harry Potter novels.
- Zero and Kirinmaru tries to kill Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha as babies (which Joka has sent and failed to kill the twin babies just like Hades sent Pain and Panic to kidnap baby Hercules to turn him to mortal and kill him). Just as Lord Voldemort had attempted to destroy Harry Potter at the mere age of one.
- The special technique of Kurikaramaru, Crimson Backlash Wave, is quite similar to Tessaiga's Backlash Wave ability.
- Moroha expressed how she could find no place in the world being one quarter-demon, just like Inuyasha had explained to Kagome in Episode 31.
- The Kodoku was first used in Episode 32.
- As of episode 16, the locations of all seven Rainbow Pearls have been revealed.
- Konton is aware of Tōkotsu, his son and Kyūki's deaths.
- Moroha's name means "doubled-edged sword" which means something that has both good and bad consequences.
- It is revealed that Moroha can indeed tap into her dog-demon side which was sealed by her grandmother's rogue by her mother.
- The Wind Scar is referenced in Episode 17.
- Riku is confirmed to be a vassal of Kirinmaru. He appears to be close to his master, as the Lord of the Eastern Lands remembers his name. Zero refers to him as an indolent person.
- Zero is the one who wants Towa, Setsuna and Moroha dead. Kirinmaru appears to have no interest, even though it was prophesied he would fall at their hands.
- This is Zero's official debut in the present, and Kirinmaru's second appearance since Episode 7.
- Setsuna finally tells Towa that her greatest weakness is being too softhearted and naive due to living in the modern era. Though as a tradeoff, it's made Towa more logical, cool headed and willing to restrain others from unnecessary killing; thus bringing a similar dynamic that their half-uncle Inuyasha and aunt-in-law Kagome had.
- Setsuna tells Towa that their clan, being half dog-demon, is capable of discovering demonic energies from a distance with their unusually sharpened sense of smell.
- Jyūbei returns the green Rainbow Pearl he had been wearing around his neck in a necklace to Riku.
- The Half-Demon Princesses encounter Lord Kirinmaru for the first time. Towa and Setsuna also meet their father Sesshōmaru as he appears to protect them from Kirinmaru.
- This is Sesshōmaru and Jaken's debut in the present.
- Even though Sesshōmaru was stated to have surpassed his late father when he instinctively created Bakusaiga from his own body, Kirinmaru proved able to fight equally with him, despite him being stated to only be equal to Tōga in strength. As the two are formidable beast kings, their battle is such that all of the Earth and Heavens themselves quake whenever they clash as they are naturally equally matched.
- The Half-Demon Princesses are shown to be literally unable to slay Kirinmaru. Due partly to their own shortcomings. Moroha relies too much on her demonic heritage; especially the rogue to pull out all her demonic energy in one go if she's in trouble. Effectively comparable to "doping"; since this also has negative side-effects. Moroha rarely relies on the Spiritual powers she inherited from Kagome, which logically should be stronger due to being more human than demon. Towa lived a peaceful life in the Modern Era, where any of her combative impulses were quelled with athletics as an outlet. Thus Towa has the least combat experience and is the least willing to kill. Setsuna only thinks about killing enemies quickly as possible; thus leaving her open to surprises due her impatience. In addition her poor strategizing often forces Towa to compensate her inability to think flexibly with alternatives.
- The connection between Kirinmaru and the Dream Butterfly is that if Lord Kirinmaru is slain, then the Dream Butterfly will disappear.
- Konton dies in Episode 18, making Tōtetsu the only remaining member of the Shikyō.
- The Rainbow Pearls are revealed to been, in fact, seven fragments of an ancient and even greater demonic power that was divided by none other than Zero, for being way too dangerous to ever use to its fullest potential. This ancient supreme demonic power seems to be coveted secretly by Riku, as he has expressed a desire to attain all seven pearled fragments for himself.
- Jaken expresses how Towa and Setsuna have grown, who naturally do not know he their father's longtime most devoted vassal.
- Riku takes the blue Rainbow Pearl from Konton's headless corpse, further strengthening his natural abilities once adding it the purple and green Pearls had attained from Kyūki and Jyūbei. This leaves only the orange one Tōtetsu had just swallowed, and the red, gold and silver pearls in the possession of the Half-Demon Princesses, in order for an even greater demonic power to be unleashed on the world once all seven merge into one.
- Towa's attempt to cut through Lord Kirinmaru's vortex of demonic energy is what Tetsusiaga's Dragon-Scaled ability does by revealing the opponent's demonic energy in the form of a swirling vortex, enabling Inuyasha to cut through it and gravely weaken his enemy.
- Whenever Kirinmaru and Sesshōmaru the greatest beast kings, clash, the very Earth and Heavens themselves are disrupted.
- Takechiyo has been shown to transform into other forms such as an oil bomb and Moroha.
- The reasoning behind Princess Aiya's contest between the Demon Slayers and Bounty Hunters was from the time Setsuna and Moroha went to rescue Towa from the Deputy Shogunate's estate in episode 1.
- Towa rescuing Moroha on Kirara acts as a reference to when Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's hand in CHANGE THE WORLD.
- Aiya's laugh is similar to Rumiko Takahashi's characters Kodachi Kuno from Ranma 1/2 and Anju from Kyoukai no Rinne.
- The guy called 'The Muscle' is reminiscent to another Rumiko Takahashi's character, Mr. Invader, who is Lum's father from Urusei Yatsura. The only difference is that 'The Muscle' doesn't have any horns and his clothing is of a different color.
- In episode 20, It was Jaken who guided young Setsuna to the hidden village and gave her gifts to hone her combat skills per his master's request, though he never revealed himself to her.
- Episode 20 marks the return of Shiori who made a single appearance in Episodes 73 and 74. Her human mother had died some years ago, having succumbed to illness.
- Setsuna's battle against Gaga Gozen is very similar to Inuyasha's fight against Gatenmaru in episodes 51 and 52. Both Gaga Gozen and Gatenmaru are Moth yōkais who paralyze both Hanyōs, but are nevertheless destroyed by their mindless transformations.
- Episode 20 is the first episode where Moroha doesn't appear nor is she referenced at all.
- This is the first time in Yashahime a half-demon transforms into a human during a solar eclipse as opposed to a new moon. In Inuyasha Jinenji becomes a human on a day in month.
- In Episode 21, Towa confirms that it's currently winter. Though unlike winter in the modern era, the weather is only mildly cold as Towa doesn't feel cold in her human form until a breeze strikes.
- This marks the second time Towa becomes full human.
- Towa learns from Kaede that her mother's name is Rin.
- Towa, Setsuna, and Moroha discover that Riku seeks to collect all the Rainbow Pearls, including theirs.
- Tōtetsu being weakened by miasma bees of the dead summoned by Riku while using his air breath is similar to Miroku being weakened by the Saimyōshō of Hell while using his Wind Tunnel.
- As of Episode 21, all the Four Perils have been slain.
- Towa gives her Silver Rainbow Pearl to Riku.
- This is the first time that the Sacred Jewel is shown via through a flashback around the time that Inuyasha was born, as well as Tōga's death.
- Tōkotsu is the only Shikyō to not appear in this episode at all.
- It's been revealed that Riku is only a doll since he was around the era of the Great Dog General's reign.
- Kaede confirms Rin disappeared shortly after giving birth to the twins.
- Riku’s sword is a European cutlass rather than a Japanese katana. Being a pirate, it is possibly he may have taken it while raiding a European ship.
- Towa's dream is reminiscent of the one she had while under the dream gazing spell in The Dream Gazing Trap.
- Kirinmaru has a scar from his first confrontation and fight with Towa in Episode 18.
- In Episode 22, Tōga's statement to Zero about her being who she is acts as a callback to what Towa said to Riku in the previous episode.
- Rin is revealed to be linked to Zero, which could explain Sesshōmaru's inaction when Zero had the forest his daughters were in burned.
- Setsuna sprouting butterfly wings seems to be a side-effect of the Dream Butterfly's curse.
- Setsuna vaguely recalls seeing Zero's green eyes before, while she had slept and dreamed a decade before.
- This is the first time that Tōga, in his humanoid form, makes an appearance other than of the third movie via a flashback. Plus, he is seen to have wielded the mighty demon sword Sō'unga. The only difference is that its immense destructive power was not used to destroy the Grim Comet.
- This marks Kin'u's first appearance in the present as a teenager, whom Towa naturally mistakes her Gyokuto, as they are identical twins.
- Moroha uses Heavenly Arrow Barrage for the first time since Episode 16.
- In Episode 23, Sota Higurashi using a faux illness as an excuse for Towa's absences is similar to what Grandpa used to do for Kagome in the original series.
- The Grim Comet cannot be seen by humans in the Modern era.
- Riku lies to Zero about how Towa’s hidden demonic powers can be unlocked since he doesn’t want her to endure unnecessary suffering.
- Zero is resurrected by Tenseiga, therefore saving Rin as well by sending her back into deep sleep.
- Tenseiga is broken by Zero, is similar to Goshinkibroke the Tessaiga.
- The following episode's preview contains rain Instead of the usual music and is mostly silent with the exception of the title card being read.
- Moroha has heard of Tenseiga but not Tessaiga (She did not learn about Tessaiga until episode 6) considering the fact that Tenseiga was originally a part of Tessaiga.
- The Rainbow Pearls are again scattered, this time by Kirinmaru to keep Zero from interfering with his designs.
- Zero ditches any loyalty to her brother and leaves him to his fate.
- Tōtōsai senses Tenseiga break and was heading to meet Sesshōmaru to repair it.
- Kirinmaru wears a mask to hide his scales.
- Towa can only transform into her demon form when she suffers great emotional pain; unlike her uncle Inuyasha, who subconsciously tap into it in life or death situations.
- Moroha finally manages to master her Beniyasha form, having complete control of her demonic energy and not immediately feeling completely wiped out from it.
- When Setsuna's blade of her naginata turned red is very similar to how Tessaiga transformed into red Tessaiga.
- Kirinmaru gets another scar, this time from Setsuna.
- Kirinmaru snaps the Kanemitsu no Tomoe and mortally wounds Setsuna.
- Setsuna is the first main character to die; albeit temporarily, as Tenseiga can save her since it's her first death. Although being so, it is likely to be her first and only death.
- This is also the first time that Setsuna calls Towa "Sis" since she was 4 years old just before she dies.
- As Tōtōsai is heading out on Mō-Mō, he is likely going to repair Tenseiga. Tōtōsai can sense when his own creations need him and expertise in strengthening them further.
- At this point, Sesshōmaru passes down the Tenseiga to Towa, as he knows how compassionate her heart truly is, and knowing that she has a greater chance of reviving Setsuna.
- This fits with Towa's desire to save lives and not harm others
- Sesshōmaru says his eldest twin daughter's name for the first time.
- Clips from previous episodes were showcased at the beginning.
- This is the first episode to have Reborn as the opening theme, and Transparent World as the ending theme.
- Towa wields the Tenseiga for the first time. The way her innate dog-demon powers temporarily disappear had happened to Inuyasha when he was at Mount Hakurei due to its strong spiritual shield purging anything or anyone demonic.
- Setsuna is revived, and the Kanemitsu no Tomoe is reforged into the Yukari no Tachikiri.
- No longer having the red Rainbow Pearl to limit their true strength and effectiveness against evil, Moroha's inherent spiritual powers are now free to further develop properly as well as increase in strength and effectiveness. (For instance, for a time, her sacred arrows could only display a very small amount of spiritual energy that could only wipe out and/or purify one target at a time. From this episode onward, it takes only one of Moroha's sacred arrows for a dozen or several more targets to be fully purified or eradicated all at once).
- Setsuna does the narration instead of Towa for this episode. Additionally, we seen her waist-length hair loose again.
- Mimisenri makes his appearance in the series since the original series' 127th episode, in which he informed Naraku of the unreachable whereabouts of the "final" fragment of the Sacred Jewel of Foul Souls.
- The Demon-Snake Spirit evil form resembles the Greek character Medusa, along with the autonomous snakes as her hair. She even turns anyone, who looks into her eyes, into statues of stone.
- The location of one of the Rainbow Pearls is as follows; The Blue Pearl is in the eastern forest.
- The cause behind Rin's present death-like slumber and Setsuna's curse are revealed to have good intentions, contrary to what Towa believes. It is the precise reason as to why Setsuna cannot dream nor sleep because they have been transferring to her young mother for her own safety from Zero and her fatal curse that has been halting in its tracks, if only temporarily: Zero had cast a silver-scale spell on Rin which would end her life once she was fully encased by the scales. A Dream Butterfly pupa was placed on the nape of the right side of Setsuna's neck at the behest of the Sacred Tree of Ages.
- According to Jaken, Rin was supposedly eighteen at the time Zero fatally cursed her. She wore the exact same purple-and-gold kimono that was given to her when she was living with Kaede.
- It is revealed that Rin was already within the Sacred Tree of Ages before Inuyasha and Kagome were sealed within the second Black Pearl by Sesshōmaru. It is revealed that Sesshōmaru not only saved his younger half-brother and his human priestess wife from Kirinmaru, but also to prevent them from going after Kirinmaru and Zero themselves. This was what would have further spread the curse and hasten young Rin's third and final irreversible death.
- It is revealed that the song Setsuna has been playing on her violin was not out of the blue, but actually her own hidden memory of what Rin had sung fourteen years prior.
- Two of the demons who challenge Setsuna are identical to the demons who challenged Sesshōmaru after Meidō Zangetsuha was transferred to Tessaiga in Episode 184.
- Riku's intimate connection and origins directly related to Kirinmaru is revealed: Originally, he was one of the Eastern Beast King's own horns that was cut off six centuries ago by none other than Tōga the Western Best King during one of the demon rivals many, many battles. Such a deep and personal connection was how Kirinmaru learned of Setsuna's resurrection.
- The scene of Sota showing the photo album to Towa from the "The Gateway to the Past" was reconnected with Moroha having seen it as well, so she would recognize her parents.
- Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi make their actual debut here in episode 28; albeit still trapped in the Demon Graveyard. Moroha finally knows where her parents have been since her birth fourteen years ago.
- It is revealed that, like Riku, Kirin became a sentient embodiment of Kirinmaru's physical self, from the Beast King's right arm that was cut off by the Beast Bing Toga of the West. As such, it was thrown into the Bone-Eaters Well and from there manifested as a human-looking man who was then absorbed into the modern era. His centuries-long presence, however, is gradually starting to cause rifts in the infinite space-time continuum.
- It's been revealed that Kirinmaru's severed arm was the first to be sent into the Bone Eater's Well. Afterwards was Saya with So'unga sealed in its sheath, then Kagome Higurashi.
- The way Rion rises again with a body made of bones and grave soil is the same way the spiritless Kikyō did when she was forced to return to life.
- After Setsuna cuts the red thread of destiny between Rion and Kirinmaru to cut Rion's Dream Butterfly, she saw the Dream Butterfly out of her for the first time since Towa saw it in "Secret of the Rainbow Pearls", and "Wielding the Tenseiga".
- Setsuna's ability to sleep finally returns after Sesshōmaru cuts the Dream Butterfly with Tenseiga. However, as a result, the silver-scale curse cast upon Rin by Zero starts up again.
- Towa has been shown to know how to play the flute, which transforms into the almighty Zanseiken, the opposing demonic, stellar sword that is equal to the one wielded by Kirinmaru, the Bakuseiken, which he had used to destroy the Grim Comet's fragment with his incredibly strong Blasting Barrage attack and had fought Beast King Tōga of the West, and eventually the Half-Demon Princesses with several times.
- Sesshōmaru speaks to his half-niece and calls her by her name for the very first time; mentioning whether she had seen Inuyasha, his younger half-brother and her father, as well. He does not answer her question as to how he knows of her half dog-demon father's imprisonment in the Demon Graveyard.
- The red thread of destiny between Kirinmaru and his daughter Rion is shown to have been connected by several threads; whereas Towa and Setsuna's young human mother Rin's is linked to Zero by just one.
- This marks the first time Towa announces the name of her strengthened and evolved dragon-based demonic attack she inherited from Sesshōmaru, and that Kirinmaru himself suggested; Twin Azure Dragon Wave.
- The origin of Kohaku's scar and Hisui's occupation is revealed. This is the first time we see Hisui with his hair down, bearing an uncanny resemblance to his father when he, Miroku, was younger.
- Moroha has managed to pay back one ryo of her master's debt.
- This is the first episode where Kin'u and Gyokuto both debut in the current story line rather than in flashbacks from previous episodes when they are seen together. Gyokuto debuted in Episode 13, and Kin'u debuted in Episode 22.
- This is the first time Setsuna wears a different article of clothing of the feudal era as a teenager other than her demon slayer outfit.
- Aiya marks Takonyudo another apparition since her father saw Yotsume in disguise both in the premiere, and "Meeting Through an Apple".
- Sango is referenced by her son, though is not seen even in flashbacks.
- Rion mentions that Zero's time had stopped for her much like herself.
- Moroha meets Hachiemon for the first time since she was taken to the Wolf Demon Tribe. This is also Hachi's first appearance in the present timeline.
- Towa still holds regret in her heart, which prevents her from evading attacks.
- The rock demon Towa and Setsuna fight at the beginning says a similar word to the "gesh"Ginkotsu says. Also, the way he tries to kill Towa looks very similar to the way Ginkotsu tried to kill Kōga and how he ended up dying.
- Setsuna's childhood memories of her time with Towa seem to have gradually returned to her since Sesshōmaru had destroyed her Dream Butterfly as she assured Towa that it was okay to let go of her hand.
- With the introduction of the 3 new demon slayers, it is revealed that the demon slayers' names are based on numbers (Goro (5), Rokuta (6), Nanasuke (7), Yamata (8) and Kuzu (9)).
- Towa and Setsuna have been confirmed to have the ability to see Akuru whereas Kirinmaru, Riku and Rion cannot see him.
- Riku is blinded by Kirinmaru.
- Takechiyo has been revealed to have a younger brother named Kikunosuke.
- Kirinmaru sees that Towa has the Zanseiken.
- When the Lavender hand cream was applied to his eyelids, Riku regained his sight; albeit his eye color now being purple instead of green.
- When the Lavender hand cream was applied to his eyelids, Riku regained his sight; albeit his eye color now being a light lavender instead of forest green.
- Setsuna utilizes her Yukari no Tachikiri a second time to cut one's unseen threads of destiny which, in the case of Mayonaka, were a light golden with several strands as it was red for Rion and Kirinmaru's strands.
- When Riku tells Towa she is the only person he can see after using her hand cream, Towa is seen to be blushing much stronger than she was in Secret of the Rainbow Pearls. This could imply that her reciprocation of his feeling has grown since then.
- At the end, Setsuna finally begins to feel the gradual effects of a new moon begining to influence her human blood over of her dog demon side, which every half-demon feels on the night he or she temporarily has their respective demonic abilities neutralized, with Shiori losing her bat demon hair color, eye color and powers on a rare solar eclipse.
- Detective Conan, specifically Phantom Thief Kid is referenced while Moroha prepares the hang glider.
- The origin of Shogen Mamiama's scar is revealed as Inuyasha had used the Wind Scar to leave the scar on his forehead.
- We learn why Takechiyo was left in Jyūbei's care, as seen in "The Dream-Gazing Trap".
- It is revealed that Setsuna's hair almost grows to her feet when temporarily human, somewhat like Rapunzel from the German fairy tale but also from the 2017-2020 animated show of the 2010 Disney film Tangled.
- It is is shown that Kagome Higurashi had utilized an unusually strong sealing arrow to imprison the Full Moon Raccoon Dog, similar to her daughter's Heavenly Arrow Barrage attack. A pillar of great spiritual power appeared to encase the guardian of the Raccon-Dog Tribe's castle and seal him inside a scroll woth Miroku's own ever strengthening Buddhist/spiritual powers.
- Miroku had expressed his desire to have his powerful Wind Tunnel again, "since he fight against" the Ne no Kubi one year ago.
- Again, Shippō is not seen in either flashbacks or the present.
- Towa finally learns that Riku is Kirinmaru's incarnation.
- The creatures Yukinyudo talks to are similar to the ones Byakuya summons in "In Pursuit of Naraku".
- Zero intends to absorb her seven Rainbow Pearls and regain her full demonic strength and abilities only as a last resort. She is quite intrigued by Towa's memories within the Silver Rainbow Pearl, which means that she has indeed glimpsed the modern era. She desires for Nanahoshi draw strength on Towa's depression, just as the Flower Prince had done so with Inuyasha in "Flowers Drenched in Sadness".
- The silver-scale curse cast on Rin by Zero has shown to have progressed since Sesshōmaru cut the Dream Butterfly with Tenseiga.
- This is the first time Rin has spoken to Sesshōmaru since being sealed to the Tree of Ages for fourteen years.
- Jaken has revealed to know the New Moon's effect on Towa and Setsuna.
- Moroha and Tackechiyo both agree that working for Jyūbei the Corse Dealer is more fun; Moroha refusing to finally pay off her debut and Takechiyo leaving the clan in the hands of his younger brother.
- Kohaku and Sesshōmaru fight alongside one another for the first time in eighteen years.
- It is shown that Towa was first thought to be Kagome's daughter until Ms. Higurashi realized that Moroha is the actual daughter of Kagome's in "The Dream Butterfly".
- Sōta allocated Towa's birthday in the modern era to be the same day she arrived at the Higurashi shrine because they don't when her real birthday is.
- The two girls in the school uniform that Towa wears are revealed to be from Shōyō Middle School in Episode 39.
- Nanahoshi dies in this episode; marking his final current physical appearance.
- Ivy is seen around the Sacred Tree of Ages.
- Setsuna calls Sesshōmaru "my father" for the first time.
- This is the first time Rin and Setsuna has ever spoken with each other.
- Zero finally absorbs all seven of her Rainbow Pearls, therefore gaining access to even reach even greater heights of demonic strength and abilities.
- This is the second time that Towa has transformed into a full demon, this time under Zero's influence. But this is the first time her eyes turn red with teal irises very similar to Inuyasha and Setsuna's demonic transformation. Furthermore, instead of a dog spirit of Sesshōmaru's, it's Tōga's spirit that appears behind her, exactly how he had behind Moroha, as Beniyasha, when he had seemed to assist his youngest granddaughter in finishing Kirinmaru for good.
- It's been shown that Towa is completely aware of what happens when she transforms. A stark contrast from Inuyasha, whom was easily consumed by bloodlust. Though this may have more to do with their upbringing; with Towa having never wished to kill and desire to protect.
- Zero reveals that she was the true culprit behind the forest fire to Towa.
- The truth behind Zero's resentment towards half-demons comes from Rion's demise at the hands of a half-demon boy named Sakasa whose master Kirinmaru had killed.
- Towa and Setsuna reconcile as the latter's memories of her twin sister had finally returned in; this is also the first time that Setsuna cries.
- The demonic aura Towa projects takes on the form of her late grandfather, just like Moroha as Beniyasha did in Sesshōmaru's Daughter.
- The Windmill of Time turns slightly after Zero's death. This happened once before following her initial demise.
- Transparent World is played a final time when Rin is finally released from the fatal curse into Sesshōmaru's waiting arms.
- The full demonic berserk Towa wields a pale blue demonic energy blade as she had done many times before recieving the supremely powerful Zanseiken.
- The revelation of Setsuna forgetting about Towa is because Rin was the one who took away those painful memories when she used the Dream Butterfly on Setsuna.
- After being freed, Rin notably has wrinkles under her eyes; likely from the strain the curses had on her, since she didn't age for 10 years.
- The picture of Moroha and the Elder Associations that Towa got it from her phone, is like in "The Gateway of the Past".
- Kagome sees her family for the first time in 18 years since the Inuyasha finale, and her sister-in-law and her niece for the very first time from pictures taken by Towa's smartphone. Kagome also reveals that she previously owned a flip-phone.
- The scars Kirinmaru had gotten from Towa and Setsuna have now been covered by his blue streaks.
- This marks the first appearance of Shippō in the present timeline. It is revealed that he had been searching for Inuyasha and Kagome for fourteen long years to no avail. He has been working as a mentor to young fox-demons in place of Ms. Kyubi's husband; this is also the first time we see a female fox-demon. Being an adolescent demon with a long lifespan, Shippō's appearance has not changed at all since he last appeared. At one point, he appeared much taller with a high ponytail to further enhance his natural charm which, like with raccoon-dog demons, has no affect on fellow fox-demons. Some of the young fox-demons Shippō was teaching are looking like Ippō, Jippō and Shihō.
- Inuyasha and Moroha initially regard each other with great hostility, owing to their canine nature.
- Kagome explains that time passes more slowly in the Border of the Afterlife, that she has not aged a day since. It is noted that Inuyasha has not aged for about sixty-four years, counting the time when he was sealed outside the Sacred Tree of Ages for a half century. Both ways are also similar to the way that Rin doesn't age while sealed inside the Sacred Tree of Ages since the silver-scale curse for 14 years.
- Towa's previous school was revealed to be Shōyō Middle School.
- Kagome calls out her signature "Sit" command on her husband; first time seeing him on his back instead of stomach, not wanting to waken Moroha. This also marks the first time Towa and Setsuna witness the effects of the Beads of Subjugation.
- The other side of the gateway to the Realm of Fireis shown for the first time, as the outside appeared in the original anime's Episode 145.
- The Grim Comet that was destroyed by Inuyasha and Sesshōmaru fourteen years ago was merely one fragment of its true strength.
- We discover that the Border of the Afterlife is not limited to merely Tōga's grave site, but also to a wooded area, the Lake of the Staff of Two Headsand the Realm of Fire.
- This is the first time we see Moroha as a toddler.
- The pedestal from which Tessaiga, in "Tetsusaiga the Phantom Sword", was embedded in reappears; both it and Tenseiga are embedded in it to help the Half-Demon Princesses escape, along with Inuyasha and Kagome, to return to the physical world.
- Towa has trouble pulling out Tenseiga, just as Inuyasha had with Tessaiga.
- The identical twins Kin'u and Gyokuto still play with Shippō, even as young adults.

- Sango reunites with Kirara.
- Miroku is the only main characters from Inuyashato be missing in this episode.
- It is revealed that the repaired and upgraded Hiraikotsu she had received all those years agohas now been further enhanced into a "Black Hiraitoksu", indicating that its new and greater abilities are quite deadly and destructive.
- Towa's hair turning black for infusing demonic energy into Tenseiga is similar to when she attempted to return her twin sister to life.
- Towa, Setsuna and Moroha meet Shippō for the first time while Inuyasha and Kagome meet Takechiyo for the first time.
- The fact that Inuyasha knew that Shippō can teleport means he learned that technique before he and Kagome were imprisoned in the Border of the Afterlife.
- Inuyasha mentions that Tessaiga and Tenseiga were originally one sword, which was revealed in "A Complete Meidō”.
- This is the very first time Moroha refers to her rouge as Grandma's rouge which she now uses to hold the Black Pearl as it holds precious memories for her.
- Towa meets her biological mother for the first time since her release from the silver-scale curse.
- Takechiyo mentions that Shippō has motion sickness, despite that the fox-demon is freely capable of utilizing highly advanced Fox Magic.
- Akuru or his pinwheel is shown to have some sort of healing ability as he uses this power to revitalize Towa.
- Akuru makes direct physical contact with the Half-Demon Princesses for the first time.
- Inuyasha battles Kirinmaru for the first time alongside his wife and teenage daughter. Inuyasha utilizes his Backlash Wave for the first time in the spinoff. However, for some reason this technique appears much weaker than it did in the original series, and Kirinmaru easily disperses it.
- Moroha gets a new and more powerful weapon, a longbow made from of Inuyasha's sliver-white hair and materials from her grandfather's grave. It seems to boost her already strong spiritual powers somewhat like Kagome's longbow does for hers.
- Kirinmaru showing fear of Moroha's spiritual powers suggests that she is potentially considerably stronger then her own mother.
- Miroku and Sango retain their old running gag of her slapping him for touching her behind even after all these years. Showing they are more casual about it; since they carry on with the conversation after she strikes him.
- Sango is seen carrying the Black Hiraikotsu on her back.
- Kaede is reunited with Inuyasha and Kagome.
- With Miroku's appearance, all major characters from the original series are present in this episode.
- Rion becoming unable to move without enough haku to sustain her artificial body is reminiscent of Kikyō to when she was deprived of the spirits of the departed without her Soul Collectorsnearby.
- Kirinmaru seems to fear Moroha's ever developing and strengthening innate spiritual powers, as he had expressed slight concern when the quarter-demon was supercharging an arrow with even more spiritual energy, a feat she had never done so beforehand.
- Miroku's signature spiritually-infused staff is returned to him by his wife who is carrying her greatly enhanced Black Hiraikotsu on her back.
- The genuine Kikujūmonji is seen again.
- Rion battles against her father for the first time.
- It is shown that Kagome and Inuyasha's present for their daughter has indeed further boosted and perfected the purifying/destroying effects of her Sacred Arrow, causing it to temporarily disappear and reappear as with Kagome's. But it also causes it to destroy the enemy's weapon something that Kagome's spiritually-infused longbow is incapable of.
- Sesshōmaru's mother meets her twin granddaughters and step-granddaughter for the very first time.
- Episode 43 is the very first time an episode takes place in the modern era in Season 2.
- Towa returns to St. Gabriel Academy for the first time since Episode 4.
- The logo for the 2022 Olympics is seen.
- Julian, the singer whom Mei admires so and who was first mentioned in Episode 6, makes his debut.
- Demons showing up at the concert is similar to when demons showed up at the Cultural Festival in Episode 128 of the Inuyasha original series.
- Rin is seen wearing the purple kimono she had worn in three-year epilogue of the original anime again instead of the white one she had been donned since being released from the Silver Scale Curse.
- Kaede is seen firing sacred arrows for the very first time, a feat she says is the extent of her powers.
- Shippō's foxfire attack is green instead of blue.
- Miroku returns to wearing his outfit of the original anime.
- The true form/self of the Grim Comet is revealed: A pale blue glowing material. It can produce intense waves of miasma as well form various demons from the infinite amounts of pure demonic-stellar energies it contains.
- Sango's new-and-improved Black Hiraikotsu can freely purify evil demons/spirits, having been infused with Kin'u's great Buddhist/spiritual power.
- Twin Azure Dragon Wave gets an additional upgrade by being used in conjunction with the Grim Comet's infinite stellar and demonic energies, being called Shooting Star Azure Dragon Wave.
- The images that Osamu Kirin shows to Kirinmaru consist of the following cities and landmarks:Tokyo, Japan, The Statue of Liberty, New York City, New York, Big Ben, London, England, Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai, China
- Akuru sacrifices himself by using his very last ounce of his powers to open a portal for the half-demon princesses to return to the feudal era, meaning he dies in this episode which marks his last physical appearance.
- The chant that Miroku uses to seal the Grim Butterfly is the same he used to seal Setsuna's demonic blood.
- This is the first time that the original group reunites before Moroha's birth.
- This is the first time Kagome shoots three arrows at once.
- This marks the first appearance of A-Un in the present timeline.
- This is the first time that Rin finally gets to hug her daughters.
- This is the final appearance of the Grim Butterfly, Kirinmaru, Osamu Kirin and Rion.
- It was also originally supposed to be Riku's final appearance, but he returns in the following episode as he is later reanimated into a doll.
- This is the third time an ending theme plays outside of it theme. The first was Kesshou and the second was Transparent World.
- Towa and Setsuna call Sesshōmaru "father" for the first time.
- Myōga makes an appearance after a whole season's passing.
- Jyūbei also reappears after being absent from most of the Season.
- The kimonos Towa and Setsuna wear are the same ones from Anaaki no Sora. Towa doesn't wear her kimono closed, instead wearing it open; she's also wearing bindings of the era, rather than one of her sports bras underneath.
- Season one has 24 episodes while season two will have 24 episodes. Making this series be up to 48 episodes so far.
- Season 2 has been announced to air in the fall of 2021. With it’s official release date being October 2, 2021.
- A manga series is now in development for the series.
