Himawari looks like her mother, but has her father's face expressions. She even acts like her father, and late grandma Kushina overall in personality. Due to her father's influence, she also wants to find a job that she can do besides being a shinobi. She is now the fourth and current Jinchuriki of Kurama, the Nine Tail Fox.

Background

Uzumaki Family at one morning

Himawari with her family.

Himawari is the second and youngest child of Uzumaki Naruto, and Hyuga Hinata. Being born (in the anime) when her older brother, Uzumaki Boruto is at the age of two. In the manga, she is actually in reality 5 years younger than her older brother as she was born when Boruto was at the age of 7. On one peaceful morning during the winter time, while she is only three years old in the anime. She and her older brother, came out of no where running out of the house to embrace their father while he was training outside. But she and her brother were scolded by their mother who told them not to play outside barefooted. After that, they started a snowball fight with their father, along with their mother happily joining in on all of the fun.

During her early childhood, on the morning of Naruto's inauguration as the Seventh Hokage, Hinata asked her two children to wake their father up. While Himawari was unable to do so by whispering in to Naruto's ear and poking him on the stomach, Boruto on the other hand happily proceeded to yell and jump right on their father, therefore effectively waking him up. While getting ready to go out, Himawari and Boruto got into an argument over her bringing her stuffed pink ear panda toy to the ceremony, in which resulted for them to have a tug a war by pulling the toy. While pulling the plush toy, Boruto told Himawari that her Panda toy was embrassing to him. However Himawari told her brother that her toy isn't embrassing but cute. As she and her brother kept pulling the toy, this escalated the toy to be ripped in half and made Himawari fell to the ground. While laying on the ground, she held the head of her stuff panda. However Boruto apologized to her while blaming it on her as well, by saying that it's her fault as well for ripping it the hardest.

But Himawari got so angry at Boruto, that she finally awakened her Byakugan for the first time, and began attacking him in rage. (In the OVA, the veins under her eyes are shown in close up form) Naruto quickly rushed in to see what all the commotion was about, and he tried to calm Himawari down after seeing her with the Byakugan. However she refused to listen, as she then intended to strike Boruto's charka points. But when Naruto stood in front of Boruto, Himawari knocked her father out by hitting his charka points in a single strike instead. (In the OVA, Himawari knocks Naruto out before he can calm her down)

After her father went unconscious, Himawari then used her Byakugan to locate her brother who was hiding from her in a closet. After finding her older brother, she wonder if he was playing hide and seek with her, in which resulted for her to have a demonic expression on her face. (In the OVA, she has a homicidal look on her face, and in her eyes). It's unknown what happened after she walk into the closet that Boruto was hiding in as she had closed the slide door. Later on after her father woke up, Himawari happily ran to her father to hug him who was shaking in fear. Then she takes a picture with her family. That night she slept with Boruto on a pull out chair with her refixed stuff panda.

Soon after that her brother enrolled at the Ninja Academy at the age of 8, and Himawari started to hang out more with her mother since she is too young to enter the Ninja Academy. It is also during this time that she learns about her late uncle, Hyuga Neji and starts drawing.

Personality

Himawari is shown as being a very cheerful and kind hearted young individual, as she likes cute things such as her pink ear stuff panda plush. She is also considerate, and curious. This was shown when she asked her mother if her late uncle Neji would like the sunflowers she brought for him. Including many years later by finding her father's old jacket, and even wondering if her father really wore it when he was young. To which she asked her mother (on-screen but muted) about it when she found it.

She also cares about her older brother, and likes to refer things the other way around. Which Boruto refers to as teasing him, to the point that he hates it when Himawari does it. She even calls Boruto "Big Brother". In the English version of the Boruto manga, she calls him Big Bro instead. Even to the point where she is always excited when he returns home, and hopes to play with him whenever possible. Unlike her older brother, Himawari is very mature for her young age. Enjoying whatever little time she had with her father, whenever he was not doing anything. Along with helping her mother out with the housework.

Himawari is quite patient, supportive, and understanding with her often-absent father and his Hokage duties. But Himawari, just like her mother yearns for him to be home. She unlike her brother also enjoys hearing stories about her father. Once Naruto does finally come home permanently, due to him having a lessen working schedule. Himawari is shown being very happy that her strained family is back together again, along with giving her father his lunch whenever he leaves for work. During Parent and Child day, she appreciate the stuff that Naruto got for her even though he try very hard to get her a Kurama-ma plus toy. And nevertheless still wishes him good luck on being the Hokage.

Himawari's kindhearted nature also expands towards strangers, such as when Himawari willingly gave up her desired Kurama toy doll to a boy after hearing about how the boy's father had tried too much to buy one for him, and despite wanting one too, she believed that the boy deserved more than herself. She is also very considerate about the future. While many expect her to become a shinobi due to her renowned lineage, she has shown an eagerness to experience various career paths to determine her own goals.

Himawari has a very close attachment to her parents, as she calls them "Mama" and "Papa". In the English version, she calls them "Mommy" and "Daddy". When Hinata was injured during Momoshiki and Kinshiki's attack, Himawari stayed by her mother's bedside as she was healed by Sakura, while worriedly watching over her and holding her hand. Himawari also holds her father in high regard, and always thinks about him whenever she's drawing pictures. At the same time, Himawari is not without a monstrous temper. When provoked enough, she can become very confrontational, by showing an intimidating and violent side that is similar to her late grandma Kushina. This was proven enough to even make Boruto run away, and hide from her in fear by vowing to never make her angry ever again. Not only that, her temper even makes her father, and Kurama be afraid of her. When she has a angry expression on her face, Himawari shows it with a demonic expression. (In the OVA, she shows it with a homicidal look). Just like her father, Himawari doesn't even remember that she knocked out her father, showing that she also has short term memory loss.

Also like her father she inherited his guts to never give up on the task at hand and to value teamwork. Along with becoming depressed on not taking things seriously and when others assume that she's something that she's not. Himawari also picked up a few of her father's traits, such as referring to others with nicknames, as seen as when she referred to Orochimaru as "Oro-chan". She is also likewise very astute to other people's nature, able to notice changes in their attitude. Also like her father, she also comes up with weird plans to help a friend impress someone, or to express themselves in front of others. However the advice is misunderstood and her ideas go horribly wrong for the person that needs her up. Despite this like her father, she gives the advice by being serious with a mix of being hyper. Also like her father she sees the good in people, and refuses to believe that they are evil. As she begged Hana not to hurt others with her split personality valuing her student teacher bond just as much as Naruto did with Iruka. Also like her father she likes going to the Academy to learn new things, and to make friends.

As mentioned by Umino Iruka, Himawari possesses the same stubbornness that her father and brother possess, while also sharing her father's occasional traits, such as being somewhat boisterous and hyperactive, mainly when she's determined in achieving a certain goal. Himawari also showcases signs of her father's pacifist side by not wanting to hit someone after they apologized to her. Including praising others for their skills. Like her father she enjoys struggling at something, by urging Norimaki Eho to continue their Academy trial session despite them being trapped in a well.

Himawari also possesses a very similar temperament to her mother: well-mannered towards her authority figures, addresses her peers with proper honorifics, and invariably thinks of others well-being and contentment before herself, indicated when she uses her earned allowances just so she could make her father ramen to congratulate him for being a great Hokage and father.

Nonetheless, Himawari is indeed not a timid or apprehensive individual like how her mother once was. Instead Himwari is highly outgoing and exuberant quite similar to Naruto, although she still remains polite. Himawari is fairly considerate, sympathetic, and friendly, by always trying her best to cope with her father's absences. Despite her commonly doting nature, she is willing to unleash a more intimidating side of herself in order to protect her loved ones.

She also looks up to the past generation as she call Jiraiya being wild and eccentric. She also gets along with Shakuku.

Himawari is also quite intrusive, as when Kawaki enrolled at the Academy in a secret mission to protect Kae Yukiwari, Himawari continually questioned Kawaki attempting to grow closer to her, pouting whenever Kawaki blew her off to keep his mission a secret. When Kawaki and Naruto discussed the mission at home, Himawari eavesdropped on them, and subsequently offered to help Kawaki appear more friendly in an attempt to befriend Kae.

After having her memories swapped he believed that Kawaki was her brother instead of Boruto. She was devastated thinking that her parents die, however she believed that Boruto was innocent and decided to help him clear his name. She enjoys training with Team Moegi, and upon becoming a jinchuriki like her father Himawari was afraid to accept this faith. However like her father she choose to embrace this change and befriend Kurama. Unlike her father she kept asking Kurama to help her protect her friends, to the point that the fox told her not to be a spoil brat. She then learns to use Kurama’s powers on her own like how Naruto did at her age.

Three years after Boruto left Konoha, Himawari showed a noticeable new maturity to her nature. While having essentially become an orphan, Himawari resolved to grow stronger to help those she cared for, training regularly with her friends. Likewise, her loyalty to them remains unshaken, willing to sacrifice herself for their wellbeing. She is also shown able to quickly adjust to surreal changes in her life, including the sudden emergence of Kurama in her life.

Appearance

Uzumaki Himawari

Himawari at the age of 3.

Himawari bears a striking resemblance to her mother, to the point that she inherited her mother's dark blue hair. Which she wears with straight bangs, and a hime cut. Including the shape of her mother's eyes and face. Like her older brother, her hair flares out on the sides and back. She also has an ahoge (アホ毛) on the top of her head, which resembles the stem of a leaf. (In the Boruto manga, her ahoge is not shown) From her father, she inherited his skin tone, blue eyes, thick eyebrows, two whisker markings on each cheek, unruly hair, and mouth. According to the franchise, Himawari looks like Hinata but inherited Naruto's face expressions. She is also considered very cute by Kakei Sumire.

In Naruto Shippuuden movie 7, she wore a pink sweater, along with a three-layered white flutter skirt, black pant, and a pair of flat pink sandals. She also wore a light green twin bead hairband on her ahoge. In the epilogue, Himawari wore a collared, long-sleeved yellow shirt with an orange cross-hatch pattern that resembled a sunflower, and red pumpkin shorts. She also wore yellow shinobi open toe sandals.

In the Boruto movie, she wears a light yellow long-sleeved sweater with a blue shirt underneath that has a petal like pattern, and a two layered pink flutter skirt. She also wears long, black open-toed stockings and fuchsia shinobi sandals.

In the Boruto manga, she appears as a very smaller child compare to her older brother who is a tall pre-teen. She also has a shorter hairstyle. Her outfit consists of a light yellow sweater while having a pocket holder in front. She also wears long leggings and red boots. However she doesn't wear the light blue shirt and pink skirt. In the anime, she wears her Boruto movie outfit but has it with a white shirt.

Later, when joining the academy, Himawari wears a black long-sleeved, turtleneck shirt with a yellow jacket and blue shorts with black leggings.

Three years after Boruto's departure from Konoha, Himawari grew noticeably taller, almost reaching her brother's class-mates' height. Her hair also grew long, reaching her mid-back, with bangs framing the sides of her face and reaching slightly past her shoulders. She wore a dark short shirt under a light cap-sleeved crop top with a sunflower design on the lower left side, exposing her midriff. Himawari also wore dark baggy pants with a long belt, bracelets on both wrists, dark shinobi sandals with light soles, and a dark choker around her neck with a sunflower design hanging to the left side.

Abilities

Despite being a young child, Himawari has shown considerable potential. While being able to terrify her prodigious older brother while getting angry and knocking out her father, Uzumaki Naruto, with a single blow. Despite not being in the Ninja Academy yet, Himawari knows much about the Shadow Clone Technique, teaching Kawaki of it as they watched her brother and father spar. Since entering the Academy, she quickly became a standout among her fellow students for her performance. Daemon expressed interest in fighting her, feeling an unspecified intensity coming from her. With her newly unlocked power, she is able to briefly hold her own against Jūra, leader of the sentient God Trees, forcing him to use actual effort for the first time in his life to defeat her.

Chakra

Like her mother, she has advanced chakra control. While being able to mould and release her chakra from any and all chakra points inside her body. Likewise, Himawari can properly release and insert chakra from her hands into an enemy's body to deliver more potent blows. With no prior training, she was able to perform the Tree Climbing Practiceand only failed from losing focus. Three years after Kurama's demise the tailed beast apparently resurrected itself in Himawari, making the girl a Jinchūriki herself. This potentially gives Himawari access to the same powers and immense chakra reserves Naruto had before her. Kurama is able to talk with Himawari within her subconscious at will.

Taijutsu

Despite not being a skilled kunoichi, Himawari can use the Gentle Fist taijutsu style with considerable efficiency. This allows her to surgically inject chakra into an opponent's tenketsu through her various strikes to internally damage her target with just minimal contact. According to Hinata, a single strike from her is strong enough to leave a person unconscious for a day. Himawari also showed deceptive strength and speed, able to knock Boruto out of a room and solidly hit Naruto while his guard was down. Himawari has shown deceptive raw might. She can launch large amounts of scrap metal into the air with a single strike and jump a considerable distance into the air. She likewise could move too fast for Boruto to follow.

In the anime, Himawari showed remarkable agility and athleticism, able to easily complete an Academy training course, beating other children who had trained rigorously to become ninja.

Since joining the Academy, her skill in both conventional taijutsu and Gentle Fist enabled her to compete against much bigger and more experienced opponents, even overpower them at points.

Ninjutsu

Since entering the Ninja Academy, she has become proficient in various basic skills like the Rope Escape Technique. Later, Himawari learned to manipulate her hair as tendrils to grab and attack with.

Shurikenjutsu

She has considerable shurikenjutsu skill, having practiced regularly with her brother, able to easily hit the bulls-eye.

Byakugan

Byakugan

Himawari's Byakugan

Stemming from the Hyuga heritage on her mother's side, Himawari awakened the Byakugan out of anger after her favorite panda toy was torn by Boruto. When activated, her normally blue eyes take on the white enlarged and featureless characteristics of the Byakugan. In the anime, she is seemingly able to activate it in stages, as initially, it appears as an unactivated Byakugan before developing the pronounced veins around her temple and dull pupils. With it, she possesses a near 360° field of x-ray vision (except for a small blind spot at the upper thoracic vertebrae), see through solid surfaces, and can even clearly perceive the chakra pathway system. She can also use her Byakugan to locate and find Boruto, who was hiding from her. Despite no prior training for it, she was able to quickly adjust to its powers, make effective use of them. In the anime, her grandfather, Hiashi, openly expressed how impressive it was for her to awaken it at such a young age. By the age of 10, she learned to access it at will, though struggles to maintain it for long periods of time.

Jinchuriki Transformations

Sometime shortly after Kurama's demise, the tailed beast resurrected itself in Himawari, making the girl a jinchūriki herself, granting her access to the same powers and immense chakra reserves Naruto had before her. This was first noticed by Daemon, feeling an unspecified intensity coming from her. It is surmised that the lingering kernels of Kurama's life-force was drawn to Himawari due to her heritage, from both her two strong bloodlines and inheriting some of Kurama's chakra naturally at birth from her jinchūriki father. Three years after Boruto's departure from Konohagakure, Kurama's resurrection matured enough for it to talk with Himawari within her subconscious at will.As noted by Kurama, due to her unique heritage, Himawari's compatibility with the tailed beast greatly exceeds any of her predecessors, allowing her to draw on even greater power.

With Kurama's genuine partnership to Himawari, she appears able to access the power with no ill effects to her health or mentality. This can also grant her immunity to genjutsu. While new to it, in moments of great anger, Himawari can tap into Kurama's power. During which, she shows remarkable efficiency with it, even able to perfectly unleash a Tailed Beast Ball, which was powerful enough to match Jūra's own in a direct clash. In this state, her eyes change color to red and her pupils become slitted, gains dark rings around her eyes, plus her nails and canine teeth grow longer and sharper. Her hair grows longer and thicker, flowing in nine locks akin to tails, and her whisker-like marks become thicken. In this state, her physical parameters grow tremendously, able to effortlessly break from a Wood Release binding and punch targets great distances and through solid stone. She likewise has strong regeneration, able to heal a mangled leg with no lingering signs in seconds. Likewise, she can also heal others with from even the most maiming of injuries. Jūra notes that her healing powers are especially powerful, more like a true Tailed Beast rather than a jinchūriki, able to perfectly unleash a Tailed Beast Ball powerful enough to match Jura's own. Her physical parameters grow tremendously, able to effortlessly break from a Wood Release binding and strike with great force, launching them great distances. She likewise has strong regeneration, able to heal a mangled leg with no lingering signs in seconds. Likewise, she can also heal others from even the most maiming of injuries. At the same time, repeated healing on herself apparently quickly depletes her stamina, able to pass out from it. With Kurama's genuine partnership to Himawari, she can access the power with no ill effects to her health or mentality. This can also grant her immunity to genjutsu.

Epilogue

Once her family confronted him about this, he said he finally awakened his Byakugan, shocking everyone. As Naruto remembered how Himawari was able to manifest her Byakugan with no prior training, he considered it possible, deciding to take both his kids to Hiashi Hyūga for better answers. Upon arriving at their grandfather's home, the aging Hyuga head quickly began doting over his grandkids, which Himawari quickly returned the similar feelings. Himawari then began to play with her aunt Hanabi while Hiashi talked with Boruto.

After discussing Boruto's allegation of manifesting his Byakugan, it was decided to test the theory with a duel against Hanabi. Himawari watched in dismay at Boruto was soundly defeated by their aunt, which left everyone to conclude that Boruto did not gain the Byakugan. Afterwards, it was decided for Himawari and her family to spend the night over in the Hyuga house. After Himawari finish eating dinner, she chases her brother with her aunt. The following day, after Boruto came to terms with not having the Byakugan, he reverted to his normal personality, shocking Himawari again. When Naruto is home from work, he reads a story to Himawari. Then while Naruto is talking to Boruto about Sumire, Himawari helps Hinata with dinner. When Himawari gets sick, she stays in her bed and tells Boruto that she wants to eat hamburger steak. As Boruto was watching over her while Hinata went to pickup her medicine, Naruto arrived home worried about her, making Himawari extremely happy. She later on goes back to sleep after her fever went down from taking the medicine that Hinata gave her.

On the day of the Kage Summit, Himawari accompanied her mother in visiting Neji's grave. When she asked her mother if he would like the sunflowers she brought for him, Hinata assured her that he would, because they were the same as her name. She then cheerfully said that she wanted to visit the memorial site again with her older brother.

As Boruto was getting ready to go on a field trip to Kirigakure, Himawari saw him off, asking him to bring back a souvenir, which he promised to do. When he returned however, having been caught up in stopping a would-be coup d'état, he forgot his promise completely, leaving Himawari sad. As Himawari became very withdrawn, Hinata finally broke her silence and reminded Boruto of his promise. Ashamed of this, Boruto insisted that he had to get the present from one of his friends, much to her joy. He later returned with a Kiri box of sweets, but having got in contact with his friend Karatachi Kagura, who apologized for his own actions, encouraged Boruto to come clean. He then gave Himawari both the box and an apology, admitting to his mistakes, which Himawari happily accepted.

Himawari entered a children's art competition where she won first prize for a drawing of her father. She then shows the drawing to her father who attended the event. Later Sai invited Himawari to the Ninja Academy to act as a guest teacher in hopes she was able to help his son Yamanaka Inojin with his art slump much to Boruto's annoyance. Later, Inojin sought Himawari to become his teacher so he could learn about art and he realized the importance of putting emotion into his artwork when he rescued the drawing she made of Naruto. The next day, Inojin is very sorry that Himawari's drawings disappeared from the paper after his jutsu was released. But she is unconcerned, by deciding she'll just draw another picture and make her father even happier. Himawari is seen helping Hinata wash dishes as her brother asks Hinata why she became a ninja.

As Boruto prepared for his first genin mission, Himawari saw him off and wish her big brother good luck.

Later when the Byakuya Gang show up in the village Himawari is eating dinner with her mother and brother. However she asks her mother if the Byakuya Gang is good or bad. After hearing how her brother feels against the Byakuya Gang by seeing them as evil, Himawari understands her mothers lecture that not all people are evil.

On the night of Boruto's birthday, Himawari sets up the table. She is happy that Sakura and Sarada come over to celebrate. Sakura also loved how Himawari decorated the cake. However Himawari became worry when Boruto angrily went to his room after Naruto didn't show up. Therefore Sarada goes talk to him while she stays downstairs with Hinata and Sakura.

A month later, Himawari marks her birthday and tells Boruto that her wish is for Naruto to join the celebration. Boruto says it's a lame wish because he, Hinata, Sakura and his friends will be there to celebrate it with her. But she gets sad because she only wants Naruto to celebrate it with her. Due to seeing how much she cares about Naruto, Boruto tells her he will make Naruto show up on her birthday which makes her happy.

She started treating him as a talking Shukaku toy and kept it close to her when it was decided that Naruto would watch over the tanuki. While Shukaku found the young girl's attachment annoying, it was intrigued to learn that she once knocked out Kurama out. Hoping to learn how she did as a chance to have some mocking rights on the fox, Shukaku decided to play nice with Himawari. Ultimately however, when learning that Himawari had no knowledge of the incident, Shukaku quickly turned cold again and told her to leave it alone, much to her sadness. Hinata then showed Himawari and Boruto a photo of the Sannin, who Himawari noted looked eccentric and wild. Hinata told her kids about Jiraiya's greatness as a ninja and how influential he was to Naruto, even becoming a father-figure. While eating dinner she was more interested about hearing more of Hinata being in love with Naruto since her childhood. But Hinata refuses to tell her children about it.

In the anime, Himawari was offered a one-day trial session at the Ninja Academy. There, she met Itomaki Yuina and Norimaki Ehou as her practice team-mates. While amazing her fellow trainees with her natural talent for ninja skills, they were shocked to learn that the Hokage's daughter wasn't sure about becoming a shinobi. Ehou was especially annoyed at this, feeling that she was treating shinobi life as a game. This put a strain on the practice team when they were given a mission to retrieve a missing pet cat. When Ehou scolded Himawari for thinking of giving up so easily as things got difficult, she was left behind to pout.

She was then approached by Principle Umino Iruka. As she admitted to feeling guilty for not taking this seriously like her team-mates, Iruka insisted that there is no rush to find a career path at her age, but rather this trial was merely meant to give children motivation on looking towards the future. Himawari then resolved herself to complete the mission, earning praise from Iruka for her gutsiness akin to her father. She found her team-mates had fallen into a well with the cat. While Ehou considered quitting rather than accepting Himawari's help, she scolded the boy, insisting to never give up. Working in unison with each other, the three were able to climb out with the cat to complete the mission. Later that night, Himawari voiced her new desire to experience all the various jobs in the village to find her path.

In the anime, Himawari was heartbroken when she heard her big brother was viciously defeated in battle by Kara. As Boruto was operated on, she and her mother watched in concern. Naruto soon arrived, equally concerned about his son. Upon seeing that he was stabilised, Naruto assured his daughter that Boruto was going to fine, much to her relief.

After Boruto was released from the hospital and began training under Kakashi to grow stronger, Himawari was still concerned for her brother. Hinata however insisted that Boruto was a true ninja and desired to be of true aid to others. At her mother's suggestion, Himawari helped cheer Boruto on by helping her mother make a bento for him and deliver it to him, leaving a note to remind him that he was not alone.

In the anime, Himawari attended the memorial service for the fallen people of the Fourth Shinobi War.

Later, as a birthday present to their mother, Himawari made a vase, reminding Boruto that he needed to get a gift as well. Ultimately, Boruto contributed a bunch of freshly picked flowers to add to Himawari‘s vase.

Himawari is seen helping Hinata throw away the vase. But Hinata reassures her that the vase is apart of her and that her safety by not getting injured from the shattered vase was more important to her.

During a meal, Naruto tells Boruto he's putting too much salt in his food. Boruto comments on how unusual it is for Naruto to stay home all day long, and denies being happy about it when Himawari teases him over it. In the anime she informed Boruto about Naruto showing Kawaki around the village. Soon after she was shock when Kawaki came home and gave her a brand new vase.

Later, Naruto offered to do some sparing with Boruto. Boruto claimed to only do so because his father wanted, but Himawari teased him about being excited. She watched the match alongside Kawaki, who was fascinated by the shadow clones. After Himawari explained their nature, Kawaki insisted that Boruto try using his Kāma, as understanding its power would be the first step to removing it. Knowing that Boruto still couldn't activate it at will, Kawaki activated his own so Boruto's would respond in kind. Naruto approved of his son using it and quickly showed a considerable improvement in performance. Afterwards, despite Boruto still losing, Naruto applauded his son on his recent growth. Kawaki was curious at how the father and son showed their respect with seal of confrontation, which Himawari also explained.

Later, as Kawaki struggled to repair Himawari's vase, she happily said buying a new one was enough. Boruto then came and accepted Kawaki's offer of learning what he knows about their Kāma. As Himawari watched alongside her father the two boy's sparring match, while Boruto quickly activated his mark, he failed to make actual usage of it as his attempt to absorb Kawaki's blast burnt his hand. After Naruto cancelled the match he was alerted of an intruder. Naruto told Boruto to take Himawari away while he stayed with Kawaki, certain that the intruder was after Kawaki. His assumption proved correct as they were quickly met with Delta.

As she boldly told the Hokage to hand over Kawaki, the boy explained who this woman was Delta a high-ranking member of Kara. Naruto told Boruto to watch over Himawari from afar as he faced off against Delta. In the initially scuffle, Naruto proved to outpace her in raw taijutsu skill, but Delta quickly unveiled her cybernetic enhancements, using it to absorb Naruto's Rasengan. As Delta began unveiling more of her hidden abilities to pressure the Hokage, Naruto decided to unleash his Six Paths Sage Mode. As the battle continued to intensify, it left both combatants amazed at the other's abilities. When Delta later used her as bait to get Naruto hit by her laser eyes, her father and Kawaki later on intervened and saved her.

Himawari watched the fight until her father defeated Delta after overcoming her ability to absorb chakra, and celebrated his victory. However her brother protected her from getting hurt when Delta's body had self destructed.

Later, Himawari left with Hinata to shop for dinner just before Jigen came into their home. He was able to critically injure Naruto and Sasuke in an attempt to reclaim Kawaki. After the failed attempt, Himawari and her family were relieved when Naruto made a quick recovery. In the anime, following Kawaki's release from the hospital, she found a lone and injured white wolf she named "Jaggy". She spent the next week trying to care for it by bringing it food. Her secret was eventually discovered by Kawaki, who agreed to keep quiet. Ultimately however, Jaggy was killed by a bear. Saddened, she insisted that if the wolf was aided by its former pack, Jaggy would have lived. She was then aided by Kawaki burying the wolf. Unware of it, Himawari's words aided Kawaki in reconsidering his decision to leave the village.

In the anime, following the attack of Isshiki, when a new Chūnin Exams was started, Boruto soon returned with a bag full of taiyaki for Kawaki. Himawari happily noted this must meant Boruto passed the first exam. Judging from him buying Kawaki some taiyaki. She told Kawaki that her mother disapproves of them snacking before dinner.

The day of the finals, while practising, Ehō noticed a group of suspicious men, and tracked them along Yuina to the train station, while Himawari went to get Boruto and Mitsuki for help. They witnessed the men kidnapping Amado, and the genin gave chase, with Himawari and her friends staying behind. By the day's end, Boruto returned home, saving Amado but missing his match in the finals. Himawari later joined her family for dinner.

In the anime, she and Boruto had a Rock Paper Scissors match to see who could wake up Kawaki, with Himawari winning and Boruto losing.

In the anime Himawari won a raffle to take her family on a vacation to a hot spring resort. She acted as a referee when Boruto and Kawaki lost at ping-pong to Naruto and Hinata, and later beat her father in a card matching game. She was angry with Boruto and Kawaki upon learning they went to a stamp hunt through the inn without her, even activating her Byakugan, Boruto rushing to apologize to her and urging Kawaki to do the same.

In the anime, while still unsure of her career path, Himawari decided to enrol in the Ninja Academy to figure out more about herself and meet new people. There, to her joy, she was put in the same class as Ehō and Yuina. She was surprised to see Kawaki had enrolled as well. The biggest surprise was Kae Yukiwari, a foreign exchange student and princess from the Land of Bamboo. As the class progressed, Himawari quickly became popular after showing off her talents. At the same time, she noticed how Kawaki was acting very different, wondering why he seemed so interest in Kae. Spying on him, Himawari learned that Kawaki's entire enrollment at the academy was a secret mission to protect Kae.

Later, Himawari revealed Kawaki what she overheard, promising not to tell anyone. While Himawari offered to help, he bluntly declined. Soon after, Kae invited everyone to a tea party. When Kawaki was unsure of how to act, Himawari insisted on teaching him proper party etiquette. At the party, Himawari covered to Kawaki's social awkwardness, insisting that they enjoy such activities together. As a cake Kae personally made was served, Kawaki smelled something off from the cake. Thinking it was poison, Kawaki frantically dashed across the tables and ruined the cake. With the party having fallen apart but unable to reveal the truth, Kawaki excused himself. Himawari found Kawaki, insisted that Kawaki should apologise consider all the work Kae put into the part. As he explained his actions, Himawari realised the smell was actually mustard. Realising that someone actually pulled a prank, the two investigated. They found it that Osuka Kamakura forced Neon Asakusa to implant the mustard with her drone. When they revealed the truth to everyone, Kae dropped her proper demeanour and furiously scolded Osuka for her poor treatment of a friend. After everyone applauded Kae showing her true self, Kawaki agreed that Kae doesn't need to hide behind masks. The party was then restarted, with Kawaki replacing the cake with a pile of taiyaki. Later, Kawaki reluctantly decided to let Himawari help him in his mission, much to her joy.

When Team 7 taught her class as special instructors, an exercise of theirs caused a dispute that divided the class, which she warned Boruto about. After their homeroom teacher sorted it out, the class attended her cherry blossom viewing party and picnic.

Days later, Himawari was part of a group of students who wanted to investigate the Ninja Academy at night to learn about the Seven Mysteries associated with it. Himawari plotted their route, and was one of the few students not to abandon it until the end. While she believed the mysteries were real at first, at one point she activated her Byakugan and discovered that Kawaki and Batora were behind them, though she kept quiet about it, being glad for Kae's enjoyment of it. Kawaki later deduced her knowledge of his involvement.

During a practical lesson, she was placed in a team with Kae and Sōsha, both she and Sōsha picking Kae for leader. Himawari looked after Kae during the lesson for Kawaki, and only lost track of her when Konashi asked to meet Kae away from everyone to ask for her advice. Himawari found her, but the two were attacked by a flame bear. Hana distracted the bear, allowing them to escape, and Himawari informed Kawaki of the development. Himawari's team ended up having the best performance at the end of the day. She was sad that she couldn't help Kawaki, but he pointed out she did protect Kae.

Later, as Himawari was making an effort to befriend Osuka, they were kidnapped by Ōtsubo and Teru, as ordered by their boss. While the boss only wanted Osuka to use as ransom for her rich celebrity parents, he felt Himawari would make a good sale for enemies of the Seventh Hokage. As Osuka feared for her life, Himawari stood up for her, remained certain they would get out of this. Later, as Himawari tried talking with Osuka some more, learning of her strained relationship with her mother lately, Himawari overheard Ōtsubo and Teru's growing doubt of this kidnapping plan. Himawari tried to reason with them, insisting that her father is a forgiving man and will likely let them off if they stop this now. Their boss quickly ordered Himawari to be quiet.

Planning an escape, Himawari led the charge, initially overwhelming the boss with her Gentle Fist. However, the bigger foe endured the attack and began strangling her. As Ōtsubo and Teru begged him to stop such actions, Osuka offered herself as a compliant hostage if Himawari was spared. The boss was indifferent to the offer, only for Kawaki to suddenly arrive to save Himawari and defeat the boss. Later, as the police began taking the kidnappers away, Himawari spoke to Ōtsubo and Teru, insisting that their effort to save her before shows a good change in their nature. They happily took the encouragement to start over after serving their time. Afterwards, Hibari Kamakura, Osuka's mother arrived, tearfully happy to see her daughter safe. After learning that her mother's absence of late was to ensure Osuka's protection via drone was complete, Himawari and everyone were invited by Osuka for desert.

Later, Himawari joined in a school play about Orochimaru's desertion of Konohagakure. She was casted to be her late grandfather Minato. As everyone began preparing their own prop forehead protectors, Kawaki considered just using his real one, but was quickly warned by Himawari not to or people might suspect the truth. Later, Sōsha approached Himawari and Kawaki about the rumors that he is a full-fledged shinobi. They quickly dodged the question. During a rehearsal, Eiki, having learned about Kawaki's shinobi status, was determined to reveal it. He tackled Kawaki in an effort to reveal his forehead protector. Eiki's reckless scuffle with Kawaki destroyed the stage, almost hurting him and the classmates if not for Kawaki's intervention. As Eiki proudly revealed Kawaki's forehead protector, it was revealed to be just another prop. The class worked together to exhaustingly repair the stage. Later, while desperately looking for Kawaki's forehead protector, they were approached by Osuka. She revealed to have swapped out the forehead protectors herself after hearing the rumors about Kawaki. She did this in gratitude for Kawaki saving her from the kidnappers. She also theorised that he was in fact a shinobi whose pour attitude forced him to reenter the Ninja Academy, while promising not to tell anyone. Later, Eiki apologized to Kawaki for his actions, revealing that he learned the rumor from an anonymous note slipped to him. Kawaki realized that someone was trying to remove him as an obstacle between Kae.

The day of the festival, Himawari asked Kawaki about him checking on Kae, but he claimed he was mistaken. When everyone had to stay put to deal with a terrorist threat, Kawaki asked Himawari to keep an eye on Kae while he went to help Eiki disarm an explosive tag circuit. Several smoke bombs went off, but Himawari activated her Byakugan, managing to push the assassin away from Kae. She took her outside, but the assassin followed them. Kawaki arrived in time to save them.

Following a terrorist attack, Himawari joined her class-mates to check on Hana who was hospitalised from the events. Later, Himawari learned that Kawaki was removed from his mission from his failure to report his knowledge of a potential attack on the Academy. Despite this, Himawari insisted that Kawaki should still work to protect Kae as she is a friend. Ultimately, agreeing, Kawaki joined Himawari, gathering what little intel they could with Kawaki no longer having access to official reports. Through Eiki, they learned evidence that someone had infiltrated the Academy. Through Sōsha's photos, they learned that Batora lied about not being able to go the festival. Believing that he was the assassin, Himawari and Kawaki rushed to Kae's mansion, arriving as Batora struggled to fend off the actual assassin. Kawaki managed to overpower the foe, to which the assassin committed suicide. Batora explained that he was investigating the mastermind behind the assassination plot. The following day, Himawari apologised to Eiki for leaving him behind.

Later, with the mission to protect Kae officially over, Himawari expected Kawaki to no longer be going to the Academy with her. To her joy, Kawaki still decided to attend. During which, Himawari joined her class in welcoming back Hana to teach. Later, Himawari noticed how concerned Kawaki still was. He noted that the assassin gave up too easily, even prepared early for it. They decided to investigate more, asking Kae to hang out at her mansion to look for clues.

Hana arranged for her class to undergo survival training on an uninhabited island. However, upon arriving, their food supplies went missing, and Kikuchiyo was injured by a trap, lending credence to rumors of killer missing-nin on the island. Himawari joined Osuka and Neon in looking for food. When they heard something rustling in the trees, they had Neon check it with her drone, but it got damaged. They informed everyone about it, so everyone searched to recover the drone. At night, Kawaki shared his suspicious of Kae still being targeted, and asked Himawari about the damage to the drone. Himawari thought the drone was too damaged for the height from which it fell, and its blades seemed to be cleanly cut. She suggested checking the recorded footage, so they asked Neon about it. Having watched it, Kawaki pulled her aside, and pointed out the flower petals on the corner of the screen, which implicated Hana. They rushed to her and Kae, who were looking for a flower arrangement Kae made, which Himawari found discarded and destroyed. Exposed, Hana ran off with Kae, Himawari certain it must be an impostor. Hana taunted them that the students' only value to her was as a cover for her mission. Taking Kae to a bridge, Hana stabbed her, shocking Himawari and Kawaki.

Hana then burned the bridge before retreating with Kae's body. The other students arrived, where they were told the horrid truth about Kae and Hana. Afterwards, Himawari noted that Hana's actions as an assassin seemed too excessive, including how she took Kae after seemingly killing her. Realising that Kae is likely still alive, the class worked together to find and save her. Himawari tried to search the area with her Byakugan, but was too exhausted from her fight against Hana. The class then cross the cavern through a rope and kunai. Once across, through knowledge of the island from an old article, they realised Kae was most likely somewhere on the west coast of the island. Following a trail of crumbs left by Kae, they found her hidden in a cave. Before they could move forward, Kawaki told them to stay behind as they were just students against an elite assassin. Kawaki also revealed himself to really be a full-fledge shinobi, with the mission to protect Kae. Accepting the seriousness of the situation, the students stayed behind. Himawari however refused to abandon Kawaki as a partner and Kae as a friend. They quickly confronted Hana, Himwari tending to Kae while Kawaki faced off against their former teacher.

As Hana began pressuring Himawari and Kawaki with her Fire Release, it was revealed that Hana had in fact been taken over by a split personality, who used the good Hana's genuine kindness and ignorance to her advantage. As Himawari feared how to stop the assassin without losing her teacher, Kawaki insisted that they had to prioritize saving themselves and Kae. After Kawaki countered Hana's flames and forced her on the defense, Hana used her Wind Release: Obsuring Paper to trap her targets. While struggling to avoid Hana's blinding assaults, Kawaki turned to Himawari for help with her Byakugan. While Himawari doubted she could use it effectively, Kawaki encouraged her by reminding her that they are partners and he trusts her. As Kawaki shielded her from the fire attacks, Himawari locked on to Hana, using her Gentle Fist to break through the barrier and letting Kawaki attack Hana and defeat her.

While defeated, the assassin declared that her allies would arrive any moment to complete the mission. Instead, Sai arrived after being led by the class. He revealed that Hana's allies were already subdued by the Anbu. As Hana decided to kill herself rather than be captured, the good personality was able to break through to stop her. With the encouragement and love from Himawari and the other classmates, the good Hana was able to regain control. Ultimately, Hana was allowed to return to teaching with a special seal in place to ensure her other personality couldn't take control again. It was later learned that because Kae's father had fallen ill, Kae had to return home early to step up as leader of her country. As a sendoff, the class performed their intended play from the festival before saying their goodbyes at the train station. At breakfast with her family she tells her parents before leaving, that going to the Academy helps her learn new things and to make friends. Despite this she hasn’t considered becoming a shinobi yet as Naruto agrees with her decision liking how his daughter is more mature than Boruto was when he first started the Academy.

A week later, Himawari joined her family in hosting a welcome dinner party to officially acknowledge Kawaki as a member of the household. Acknowledging Kawaki's pursuit to replace things Himawari tells him that she doesn’t mind using the broken vase as it’s more precious to her now than ever. And she doesn’t want to use the replacement vase that he brought for her. Seeing Kawaki with a forehead protector on his forehead, she comments on how cool it looks on him. But she also tells him that he looks better wearing it around his neck as she knows other people who do that style.

Later on she is seen sleeping in her room while Kawaki is taking out the trash. When she learned that Boruto and Kawaki had ventured outside the village and were fighting an enemy, Himawari was concerned about them, and was assured by her father he'd get them home. Hinata attempted to join them, but Naruto stressed that if something happened, she needed to be there to take care of Himawari.

When Boruto was called in for his first mission in a long time, Himawari watched their mother concerned about him not coming back this time, despite him trying to assuage her fears. After he left, Himawari said she could help Boruto if she became a shinobi, and asked if it would make her worry more instead.

After buying bread and tea for her mother, Himawari was approached by Daemon, who felt an intensity coming from her, sparking an interest to fight her. When Boruto caught up to them and pulled him off of her, he explained that Himawari wasn't a shinobi and didn't know how to fight, confusing him a bit. Boruto even disapproved when he thought Daemon's interest in her was a crush.

Himawari later arrived home, only to find it being investigated. Noticing the broken picture frame, she became worried over her parents' sudden disappearance. Later, like most of the world, Himawari's memories of Boruto and Kawaki were swapped.

In the following years, with Naruto and Hinata believed to have been killed by Boruto, he became a missing-nin. At the same time, As Himawari continued to believe Kawaki was her natural brother, she would try to remain close to him as her "only" family. While the boy would look after Himawari, he refused to let her refer to him as her brother. Despite the lies and swapped memories, Himawari, still having a subconscious love for Boruto, she refused to believe that Boruto could have actually killed her parents, and that they were still alive. To which, Himawari committed herself to grow strong, believing that Boruto would need her help.

Three years later, after a sparring session with Chōchō, of team 10. Code attacked the village, looking for Boruto, he unleashed his Claw Grimes. Himawari joined Team 10 to defend the village. When one of the grimes attacked Himawari, Kawaki arrived to strike it down. Himawari thanked him, but he complained about her calling him "big brother" despite his previous requests not to.

After the grimes were defeated, Himawari joined Team 10 in facing Boruto and Code, who was already being confronted by Kawaki. After Boruto was able to do subdue Code, he manifested another grime. While Kawaki quickly struck it down, Code used it to teleport away. Shikadai noted that Code could still be in the village. As Team 10 left to search, Himawari stayed back in concern for Kawaki. He told her to leave while he dealt with Boruto, which she reluctantly agreed. She then went to help team 10.

Soon after she is informed by Shikamaru that two foes has entered the village, and that one of the foes look like Sasuke. Himawari and team 10 decides to confront them while Shikadai reminds them that Sasuke is still a traitor to the village. Upon meeting the two foes they get ready to fight to protect the citizens. However she is mistaken for her father by Hidari the look alike of Sasuke. As Jūra also wonders why she is in the village instead of Naruto as he believes that Naruto still has Kurama inside of him.

She learns that the Nine Tails is inside of her by sensing his chakra, and wonders why it had to be her that the enemies are after. However she gets trap in a divine tree as Inojin and Shikadai rescue her before her chakra can be drained. Afterwords she is protected by Chocho as the battle starts. Inojin grabs her as a huge explosion takes place as she is on his ink bird. She then tells everyone after escaping from Jura that she will lure the enemy away from them. Everyone protest against her idea saying that Jura isn’t after her. However she is brought to her subconsciousness as she finally meets a small version of Kurama by calling him Nine Tails.

As Kurama introduced itself, it explained the situation to Himawari, Himawari merely welcomed the fox, impressing Kurama. It also revealed to Himawari's compatibility to the fox's power is even greater than her father's was. As Himawari regained consciousness, Jūra caught up to Himawari and forced them to the ground. Trying to access Kurama's power, Himawari attacked Jūra, only to easily blocked and captured. As Inojin tried to save Himawari, he was impaled by Jūra's Wood Release. The sight of her friend maimed enraged Himawari enough to access her newfound power and break free.

She turns her attention to Inojin, freeing him from his impalement and quickly heals him. She tells her friends to take Inojin to safety, determined to face Jūra alone so not to endanger them. After they leave, Himawari quickly surprises Jūra, overwhelming him with sheer might, even matching the God Tree's Tailed Beast Ball with her own. However, Jūra takes the battle seriously and quickly begins wearing Himawari down. As the repeated healing against Jūra's assault ultimately exhausts her into unconsciousness, Boruto appears and teleports with her to also help Sarada.

As Boruto turned his attention to Hidari, he asked Konohamaru to look after Himawari, who ultimately handed the task to another Konoha-nin so he could help against Hidari. After Hidari was defeated, Boruto was shot down by Gura, using the opening to retrieve Hidari's Thorn Soul Bulb. As Himawari awoke, she quickly used her healing powers to mend Sarada's injuries. She then went to aid Boruto, but was held off by Kawaki, first allowing Konohamaru to restrain Boruto as a wanted criminal.

As Inojin was taken to the hospital, Himawari joined him. She was relieved to hear from Sakura that Inojin would be fine.

Himawari with her mother

Himawari's mother is Hyuga Hinata, a beautiful woman with who Himawari shares a close resemblance, and takes after her personality. Hinata is a loving mother to her daughter and shares a close relationship with her. Which is seen when Himawari and Boruto went out in the snow to play with Naruto, and Hinata told her children to not go out barefoot before she joined in a snowball fight with her family. When Naruto became Hokage, Himawari listened to her mother as she took her to go wake up Naruto. After Naruto woke up from unconsciousness, Himawari took a picture with her mother, while Naruto wore his hat and cloak. Unlike her husband, who is too occupied with his duties as Hokage. Hinata spends a lot of time with her children, and is often home with her daughter. In which Himawari spends most of the time helping Hinata with house cleaning, and running errands.

On the night of Himawari's birthday party, Naruto ended up sending a shadow clone to the party, and it dropped her birthday cake on the floor next to them before disappearing. This saddened Himawari and enraged Boruto on his sister's behalf. However Hinata tried to comfort both of her children, but Boruto walks away and Hinata hugs a sad Himawari.

On the day of the third phase of the Chunin Exams, Himawari sat with her mother. But when it was discovered that Boruto was cheating, and was disqualified. Himawari asked her mother if her brother did something bad, but Hinata didn't say anything and just simply hugged Himawari. When Momoshiki and Kinshiki attacked the arena, Himawari was wisked away by her mother, who then rushed back to the arena to try to save Naruto and was left injured. As Hinata was recovering in the hospital, Himawari cried out to her mother and held her hand. A few months after the battle, she later watches Hinata knit Boruto's jacket. She along with her mother then wished Naruto, and Boruto to have a good day as they left for work, and a mission respectively.

However her mother refuses to tell her stories about her having a crush on Naruto since their childhood. As Himawari thought that Naruto was in love with Hinata like how Hinata was with him. Even though she didn't know that the crush was one sided.

Hinata is proud of her daughter as she wants to follow a similar path to Naruto by having a job besides being a shinobi. Upon learning that Hinata had die, Himawari was shock but believes her mother is alive and not dead like the village claims.

Himawari with her father.

Himawari's father is Uzumaki Naruto a tall man with great talent, and takes after her late grandmother in terms of personality. Naruto has a loving relationship with his daughter, often playing with her whenever he has free time. Such as having a snowball fight with her. Years later on the day of his Seventh Hokage inauguration, Naruto got caught in a fight between his son and his daughter. With the result of his daughter's teddy bear having to accidentally been destroyed by his son, the fight is what led to Himawari finally awakening her byakugan. Naruto even try to calm Himawari down, but she didn't listen. Naruto then stepped in to defend Boruto from Himawari's Gentle Fist-strike and took the blow instead, rendering him unconscious. This shows that he cares about both of his children's safety, even when he tries not to harm both of them. However Himawari doesn't know that her temper scares her father. She even takes a picture with him while he wears his hat and cloak. Even though Naruto's promotion to the Hokage title had him spending less time with his family than he used to, he still tries his hardest to spend time with her. It turns out that unlike Boruto, Himawari enjoys whatever little quality time she has with him due to his duties of being the Hokage. An example is when he came home in person to take care of her when she got sick, which shocks Boruto. Since he left a shadow clone at the office to handle the paper work with Shikamaru.

Another example that was proven true on the night of her birthday, while Naruto wanted to attend the party in person in order to surprise her, he had too much paper work to do. Due to this he sended six clones to get groceries and presents for Himawari's party. Then he ends up sending another clone to attend the party, to not disappoint her or Boruto. While finishing lighting up Himawari's cake, naruto's clone tripped when he was almost at the table, and disappeared while ending up dropping the cake on the table. Himawari was sad that her father didn't attend her party but not as much as Boruto was, since she knows that her father cares about her. Including that Naruto is trying his hardest to be there for her, and the rest of the family even on the night of her birthday. However, Himawari missed him just as much as her mother did. During Boruto's match against Shikadai, Naruto even sit next to his daughter, and wife instead of with the other four Kage. She also cares about her father's wellbeing even when he is protecting the village from a major threat, hinting that just like her mother, Himawari also supports her father's job. After Naruto was saved, Himawari was shown being happy that her father is permanently at home with his family; since his schedule was lessen to have him spend time with his family, without having to work too long at the Hokage office. Including that she ran off screen to gave Naruto his lunch, and waved goodbye to him when he was leaving for work. She would even make him Ramen when he comes back home.

During Parent and Child day, he tries to get a Kurama doll for Himawari. But nevertheless he buys different items for Himawari who appreciates it, and is shock when Himawari wishes him good luck on his job as the Hokage. Due to her father's influence she wants to follow in his footsteps by having a job besides being a shinobi. After hearing that Naruto is dead, she believes that he is alive and not dead. Upon becoming a Jinchuriki like Naruto, she accepts this task and vows to protect Team Moegi from harm similar to her father. Ironically she has twice the amount of chakra that Naruto had at her age, which why Kurama chose her to be Naruto’s Jinchriki successor.

Himawari with Boruto

Himawari's older brother is Uzumaki Boruto a boy who looks like there father, and is seven years older than her. (In the Boruto manga, he is at the age of 12, while his sister is at the age of seven. Therefore making Boruto five years older than her). The two share a very close relationship and Boruto is a doting, protective older brother to Himawari. That doesn't mean he doesn't get afraid of Himawari when her temper gets the better of her. On the day of Naruto's inauguration as the current Hokage, Himawari wanted to bring her toy panda but Boruto said no because he knew he would have to end up carrying it and didn't want to be an embarrassment in front of the village. They ended up tearing its head off and Himawari awakened her Byakugan in anger, and attacked Boruto, who then hid in a closet while vowing to never push her over the edge again. After their father woke up, Himawari takes a picture with her older brother while Naruto wears his hat and cloak. Boruto even slept with her after the ceremony was over.

Sometimes when he comes home after hanging out with his friends, Himawari would want to play with him. But he would honestly tell her that he have to study after dinner, which annoyed her. He cares about his sister so much that he would try to cook something for her when she got sick, and when he threatened Naruto not to be late for her birthday or he would never forgive him. But since Naruto didn't show up as planned and sensed a shadow clone instead. Boruto told Hinata that he was angry at Naruto for Himawari's sake and not his own. When Boruto passed the second round of the Chunin Exams, Himawari happily congratulated him (hugged him in the novel). Himawari loves her brother very much, seen when she happily cheered for him during the third phase of the Chunin Exams and asking her mother if Boruto was in trouble when he got disqualified for cheating. When their mother was injured in the hospital for trying to save their father, Boruto and Himawari were shown being worry at Hinata's bedside. After their father was rescue, Himawari was shown (off screen) giving Boruto his lunch when he was leaving out for a mission.

However Boruto does get shock and confuse when Himawari seriously asked him to help her find a job that she can do besides being a shinobi. And as Boruto agrees to help her with the task, Himawari eye winks at him. After entering the Ninja Academy, she was sad that Boruto refused to train her. When Boruto was framed by Kawaki after swapping lifestyles, Boruto was sad that he couldn’t see her anyway. However he was happy knowing that she was alive and still lived in the village. Due to this she thought Kawaki was her brother and had stop calling Boruto big bro. Despite this she believes Boruto is innocent and wants to help clear his name. Upon seeing him for the first time she was shock to learn what he looked like now. At the age of 16, he was happy to see how big she gotten. He also vowed to protect her when he found out that Kurama was now inside of Himawari.

Trivia

  • The name "Himawari" (向日葵) means "sunflower". When reversed, the first two kanji spell "Hyuga" (日向), which can also be read "Hinata", making her being name after her mother and the Hyuga clan. Since her mother's original last name mean "towards the sun", while her mother's name mean "a place in the sun". Her last name Uzumaki is a pun on "spiral" (渦巻), because it refers to a three-dimensional spiral, like a whirlpool or vortex. "Uzumaki" can also mean "whirlpool".
  • Himawari's name also refers to her late grandparents name who her father described as "two suns". "Mawari" is also a reference to the spiral theme in Naruto's name, as "mawari" is the Japanese word for "rotation" (回り).
  • Himawari and Boruto are the only known descendants of the Hyuga clan who initially did not possess the Byakugan. However, according to Masashi Kishimoto, he intended to give them the Byakugan, but forgot to before releasing chapter 700. This was corrected in The Day That Naruto Became Hokage one-shot short where Himawari awakened her Byakugan. However in the manga, the veins under Himawari's eyes are shown. But in the OVA version, the veins under her eyes aren't shown until her eyes are in close up form.
  • In Naruto Shippuuden movie 7, it's shown that Himawari inherited her father's clumsiness. Not only that, due to her not having the ahoge in the Boruto manga. If you look closely while she loses the side bangs, her hair resembles kid Gohan's hairstyle that he had when he went to Planet Namek.
  • She may have inherited her uncle Neji's genius since she can target a person's chakra points and completely shut them down in one move, as she did to Naruto accidentally.
  • While born into the Uzumaki clan, she is also officially recognised as a member of the Hyūga clan.
  • Although it is known that Uzumaki's have red hair, Naruto is the first known Uzumaki to be born with blond hair. Himawari is the first known Uzumaki to be born with dark blue hair.
  • Many fanfic stories are written of her seeing her father’s past in a genjutsu or on an VCR Tape, and of her spending time in the past with her father’s parents. Other fanfic stories are her learning that Uzumaki Menma is her uncle in the canon universe and her being the main character alongside Sarada. Another fanfic stories is of her yelling at Boruto for disrespecting their parents horrible upbringing.
  • Fans also wonder how Himawari's genjutsu world counterpart would act like and what her name would be. Despite this fans suspect that her name will remain the same. However fans think her genjutsu counterpart would act like Naruto from the canon universe.
  • So far it's unknown when is her birthday, along with what her bloodtype is. Including her hobbies, favorite food and least favorite food.
  • Her star sign is a ???.
  • She is Junko Takeuchi's favorite character from Boruto's generation.
  • She shares the same Japanese voice actress as Shoko Nishimiya from A Silent Voice.
  • Fans wish that she was the main character instead of her brother by calling the title of her series, Himawari: Naruto's Next Generations.
  • When accessing her initial jinchūriki form, Himawari's hair waves about in nine locks akin to tails, much like her late grandmother and former Nine-Tails jinchūriki,Uzumaki Kushina, when she is angry.
  • She is the only known jinchūriki whose tailed beast is sealed into her without the use of a sealing forumla.
