The Powerpuff Girls is an American animated superhero action television
series and a reboot of the Cartoon Network series of the same name created by Craig McCracken. It follows Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, a trio of superpowered girls living in the city of Townsville who are frequently called upon by the townsfolk to protect its residents from evil. The girls were created in a lab by the scientist Professor Utonium, who sought to create the perfect little girls by using sugar, spice, and everything nice along with the accidental addition of the ingredient Chemical X, the source of the girls' superpowers. The series premiered on April 4, 2016, in the United States and Canada. The series ended on June 16, 2019, lasting for three years.
Plot[]
The story begins with the Girls as they're jumping on the bed while fantasizing about a boy band, Sensitive Thugs. The girls hear a question being asked on the radio as on what pet would the Sensitive Thugs gets. While Blossom and Buttercup don't have an answer, Bubbles believes that a wallaby would suit them, as it's cute, yet tough. This makes Bubbles the winner, and the Girls celebrate, but quickly realize that there are only two tickets, which means Bubbles must pick between Blossom or Buttercup. However, Bubbles' phone rings, which appears to be the Mayor, who calls for help because his plane doesn't seem to have a pilot. Blossom discovers the distress signal is coming from somewhere near Monster Island. Realizing this fact, the Girls set out to save him.
Once the girls reach Monster Island, they find the Mayor's plane, but without the Mayor. Before they can search, Bubbles discovers a little creature in the bushes, whose name is Fredrick. The girls then find out there are much bigger monsters on the island and fly to safety. When they take cover from the monsters, Blossom and Buttercup begin to argue about which one of them gets the ticket. Bubbles gets them to be nice to each other, and Blossom tricks Buttercup into saying she's a "buttzilla".
However in the end, Bubbles invites Fredrick instead of either the two of them.

Trivia[]
- Unlike its predecessor, this series was animated by Sunmin Image Pictures Co. rather than Rough Draft Studios Korea, the company that animated the first series.
- Unlike the original series, most of the episodes were aired separately, instead of a pair or both altogether. Also, unlike the previous series, it was broadcast in units of 15 minutes, much like some early to mid- 2010's Cartoon Network Series such as Regular Show, Steven Universe, Clarence and Uncle Grandpa.
- Also, unlike the original version, most of the episodes' title cards have different background music and the title cards are based on the Girls' signature colors. The color of the title card indicates who is the main focus of the episode: pink-colored cards indicate Blossom is the focus, blue for Bubbles, and green for Buttercup. Tri-colored cards indicate all three girls. Purple cards indicate the focus is Mojo Jojo.
- Very few fans strongly believe this show and the original show share the same continuity, and that the reboot is actually a sequel to the original series as opposed to being a true reboot with its own continuity much like Powerpuff Girls Z. Two episodes in particular, The Wrinklegruff Gals and Power-Up Puff, show evidence of this theory being true, as they show the girls transition from Pokey Oaks Kindergarten to Midway Elementary School and their newfound ability to create energy constructs. However, The Wrinklegruff Gals reveals that the 2016 version of Mojo Jojo has a mother. Therefore it still remains a true reboot with its own continuity, but it's possible that Mojo recently learned that he has a mother.
- Sedusa is the only major villain who did not appear in the reboot, even though she appeared in the one issue of Powerpuff Girls The Bureau of Bad comic book miniseries.
- The Powerpuff Girls is one of the many franchises playable in LEGO Dimensions.
- Chuck McCann, who reprised his role for The Amoeba Boys, passed away on April 8, 2018, of congestive heart failure at the age of 83, causing said characters to be killed off.
- At the time of its premiere, the reboot was criticized for incorporating over usage of memes, trends, and slang. Many fans were also upset that the original voice actresses for the trio didn’t return.
- In Challonge.com's Worst animation of 2018: TV series vote, the reboot beats Nickelodeon's Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners and even Fanboy & Chum Chum, but it lost to Mega Babies.
- In an episode, the impact sound when Blossom looks in the fridge was cut from the song "Hitman" by Kevin MacLeod. The episode was probably "Three Blossoms".
- Many people have done what is wrong with the reboot on YouTube.
- "Blissfully Unaware" was the last PPG reboot short to ever be created.
- Bubbles, Blossom, Buttercup, and even Princess Morbucks got new different voice actresses. While some of the voice actors from the original series reprise their roles; Professor Utonium, Ms. Keane, Mojo Jojo, The Mayor, Ms. Bellum, Fuzzy Lumpkins, HIM, the Amoeba Boys, and the Gangreen Gang.
- The character Jared Shapiro was written and created by Jake Goldman and is based after himself.
- The Episode "Once Upon a Townsville" Was Nominated for Prime-time Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program.
- The reason why the Powerpuff Girls and Princess Morbucks have new voice actors, while most other regular characters have the same voice actors from the original series 18 years ago, is because Nick Jennings wanted to inject new energy into the new series, so it made sense to have young girl characters be voiced by young girl actors who are still inexperienced but can do similar voices to their predecessors. This could explain why Jennifer Hale is back to voice Ms. Keane, but not also Princess Morbucks.
- Natalie Palamides has a low-pitched voice in real life, hence why her Buttercup voice sounds more boyish than Elizabeth Daily's Buttercup.
- Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li and Natalie Palamides all watched the original Powerpuff Girls series when they were kids.
- Character modification were made for this reboot, as Nick Jennings felt that the stereotyped women from the original series (Ms. Sara Bellum and Sedusa) aren't the type of messaging the crew are wanting to give out at this time, causing Bellum and Sedusa to be written off from the reboot.
- The series won the 2017 Gracie Awards for National Family series.
- Kristen Li, the new voice actress for Bubbles, was an actual kid who was 13 years old at the beginning of the reboot. This may explain why her Bubbles voice is not as high-pitched as Tara Strong, who was 25 and already a young adult at the start of the original series.
- Bubbles is Kristen Li's most favorite Powerpuff Girl. When she found out she could only audition for one Powerpuff Girl, she chose Bubbles because they are both very outgoing, they love helping people and animals and they are always happy.
- Tom Kane, Tom Kenny, Jennifer Hale (Except Morbucks), etc, are reprising their roles back while the blossom, bubbles and buttercup voice actors didn't.
- This was the last Cartoon Network series to premiere during the CHECK it era, right before switching to the Dimensional era.
