
Invader Zim is an American animated science fiction dark comedy television series created by comic book writer and cartoonist Jhonen Vasquez for Nickelodeon. The series centers on an extraterrestrial named Zim, from the planet Irk, and his mission is to conquer Earth and enslave the human race along with his malfunctioning robot servant GIR. He is antagonized by Dib, a young paranormal investigator who is determined to stop Zim from succeeding. The series aired on March 30, 2001 to August 19, 2006. - The show had reruns on Nickelodeon on August 20, 2006 to November 22, 2007. The show aired on Nicktoons on May 4, 2002 to February 23, 2021.
- On April 4, 2017, Nickelodeon confirmed that a TV movie based on the series, entitled Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus, was in production with series creator Jhonen Vasquez returning as executive producer. The movie was released on Netflix in summer of 2019.
